Reliance JIO is coming whether it is going to be on 15th August 2016 or in October 2016. There are rumors of an early launch for the Mukesh Ambani led colossal telecom company. The telecom sector is abuzz and all big league players are worried for the price cuts that JIO can bring to the industry.
But for now lets look at the new Reliance JIO smartphone the LYF Water 8. The phone looks smashing with a metal rim sandwiched between the glass front and the back. The smartphone resembles the OnePlus X but with a similar glass back cover and rectangular feel, the metallic edges which are not too contoured. The smartphone is as thin as the iPhone 6s and is also very light in weight.
The smartphone will be available in Reliance stores and also online. The Jio LYF Water 8 is priced at ₹10,999.
The phone sports a small form factor 5 inch HD (1280*720) display with 294 ppi. The display quality might be a bummer for most of the users expecting an FHD in this range but hope the display quality and caliberation from LYF might save it.
The phone runs on dated Snapdragon 615 chipset clocked at 1.5 GHz and speaking of dated it also old software (Android Lollipop 5.1.1 version). Probably it will take some time for JIO to understand what the Indian consumers really want. They want every thing latest at affordable price.
The processor is backed by 3 GB of RAM giving a fluid experience. The phone comes with 16 GB internal and can be expanded upto 128GB with micro SD cards.
The company tries to share the spotlight on its camera and battery department. The optics are 13 Megapixel rear camera and a 5 Mega pixel front shooter for selfies. Advantageously, both of them sport HDR and LED Flash. The fancy features such as “ChromaFlash” and “OptiZoom’ enables you to click better images .
LYF Water is powered by a 2600mAh battery pack looks appropriate considering energy requirement of a 5 inch HD display. The company claims to up to 320 hours in standby mode, and upto 1 day of battery life on mixed usage.
The LYF Water 8 comes with dual sim offers connectivity options like Bluetooth v4.0, USB 2.0, Micro USB, and USB OTG, in addition to 4G/ VoLTE.
JIO has also mentioned on their website that the Water 8 is optimised well for their on 4G LTE network. The true 4G experience as per JIO gives you option to switch between video and audio call and a faster call connect.
The Lyf Water 8 is fairly slim and light measuring at 142mm x 70.5mm x 7.0mm, weighing at 122g and a small form factor of 5 inch makes it a sweet spot for the handling factor. Surely a win win for the consumers.
The smartphone will also come with a free Reliance JIO sim which offers unlimited Voice and 4G Data bundle for 3 months which itself is more than Rs. 5000 benefit to the buyers.
The phone is available in 2 color options white and black. It surely misses out on fingerprint sensor, fast charging, which are essential features in this price range.
Judging by the price point, it’ll directly face competition with newly released TCL 562, Honor 5C, Redmi Note 3, Leeco Le 2.
