Meizu the Chinese technology conglomerate has launched a new smartphone called as Meizu E2.
The E2 brings a lot to the table by offering many enticing features at low cost. The phone is available in 2 variants, which differ in storage and RAM.
The lower variant comes with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage, while the higher version comes with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. The storage can further be expanded upto 128 GB with the help of micro SD cards.
Both variants are priced at CNY1,299 (Rs. 12,000) and CNY 1,599 (Rs 15,000) respectively. It’s up for pre-orders and will begin with the sale from tomorrow.
Design- The phone somehow manages to refine the design language Meizu has been following for years. This design language is tried and tested and will not disappoint anybody, instead it’ll be a crowd favorite for 2 main reasons.
First being the use of a matte metal back without any plastic caps. Second being the small but prominent changes, such as the peculiar placement of the rear flash on the antenna line, itself gives it a refreshing look.
It seems Meizu hasn’t joined the bandwagon by reshaping the antenna bands on the edges like the Huawei phones and iPhones. At the front there’s a physical home button which has a fingerprint sensor integrated within.
Meizu claims it can unlock in 0.2s, apart from that the button is also a multi-functional key which serves as capacitive back and recents button.
Hardware- The E2 is driven by the latest MediaTek Helio P20 SOC. It’s a significant upgrade over the Helio P10. The P20 has also achieved to beat the mid-range champion aka Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SOC.
The P20 beats the 625 in GeekBench single core and multi-core score test. It manages to outpace the SD 625 in terms of CPU and Gaming performance as well. Though heat dissipation on the SD 625 is lower.
Screen- The phone offers a 5.5 inch FHD (1920×1080) display with 2.5D curved glass on top to enhance the overall looks.
Camera- The E2 comes with a 13 MP rear camera along with Quad LED two tone warm flash which helps out in balancing the white tone in night shots and makes the pictures look natural.
There’s a 8 MP selfie shooter which will get the job done for most users for clicking a share able selfie for Instagram and Facebook.
Battery- Powering the device is the massive 3400mAh battery pack along with mCharge fast charging capability. The company claims it can charge upto 40% in just 30 min through its micro USB port.
Connectivity- It’s packing all the connectivity options including 3G/4G/VoLTE, WiFi, Bluetooth v4.1
OS- It ships with YunOS which basically is AliBaba’s OS based on Android. It’s strange decision since it doesn’t ship with FlymeOS anymore.
The E2 measures 7.5 mm in thickness and weigh 156 grams. The smartphone looks stunning, sleek and premium for a sub 15K price. The E2 will be available in 3 color options – Silver, Black and Pink.
Unfortunately , there’s no news on Meizu launching it outside the Chinese market as of yet but we will keep you posted.
