Xiaomi’s New 8 Inch Tablet is Here
Xiaomi launched the Mi Pad 4 on Monday in China, along with Redmi 6 Pro. The Mi Pad 4 is the successor of Mi Pad 3, which was released last year.
Once growing tablet market is now on the decline due to lack of consumer interest as well as lack of new products from manufacturers. Apple is still doing well with the iPad sales and even the new iPad Pro is a good seller.
On the other hand, most of the Android manufacturers have given up on Tablets and even those that are selling the tablets come with sub-par experience.
Most Android tablets available in the market have dated hardware and the legacy version of Os. However, Xiaomi’s new tablet changes all that.

Specs, Features and Details Mi Pad 4
For starters, The new Mi Pad 4 comes with an 8-inch IPS LCD screen, which has an FHD+ (1920 x 1200 pixels) resolution with a rather different 16:10 aspect ratio.
According to company, its compact size makes is easy to use with a single hand.
The Mi Pad 4 takes power from an Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor coupled with an Adreno 512 GPU for handling the graphics and gaming.
The Snapdragon’s 660 processor alone can be a great deal-maker. The price tag at which Xiaomi is offering it, the Mi Pad 4 is going to be a powerful and value for money device.
It runs on the MIUI 9 along with the Android Oreo 8.1 and offers good user experience.
The device comes with a 13-megapixel camera at the back, along with a 5-megapixel front camera with a f/2.0 aperture.
Dimensionally, the Mi Pad 4 measures 200.2 x 120.3 x 7.9mm and weighs 342.5 grams.
Memory wise, it features 32GB and 64GB non-expandable storage options that come with 3GB and 4GB of RAM respectively. Additionally, there is a microSD card slot for expanding the memory.
Further, the tablet has Wi-Fi only and Wi-Fi + LTE versions in above storage options. The Mi Pad 4 variant with LTE also has a digital compass. The pricing of different variants can be seen below.

The Mi Pad 4 boasts of an array of features and connectivity options. The wired options to connect include a USB Type-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Whereas, the tablet has 4G LTE, Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, and A-GPS on the LTE version.
The pricing seems very decent yet competitive. The Mi Pad 4 also has a face unlocking feature.
Also, the tablet packs a massive 6000 mAh battery with a downside of not having additional fast charging support and is limited to charging via a 5V/2A adapter.
Although the sale of Mi Pad 4 is supposed to start in China on June 29, its availability in other regions is not clear yet.
If the tablet comes to India, it will certainly give hard times to the affordable Android tablets in the market.
What is the Difference Between Mi Pad 4 and Mi Pad 3?
The Mi Pad 4 has more compact dimensions in comparison to the Mi Pad 3. Therefore, the new tab is even lighter.
Also, the latest tablet has a 16:10 aspect ratio, whereas, the Mi Pad 3 had 4:3 aspect ratio.
On the other hand, the new Mi Pad 4 has an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset while its predecessor sported a MediaTek MT8176 Hexa-core processor.
Another key difference is the storage capacity. Unlike Mi Pad 4, the Mi Pad 3 offers only 4 GB RAM + 64 GB internal non-expandable storage. Also, there is a microSD card slot present on the Mi Pad 4.
Talking about the battery capacities, the newer model has taken a step back. The Mi Pad 4 now has a 6000mAh battery instead of a 6600mAh battery like its predecessor.
Although the above changes are minor, they are significant nonetheless. The improvements made by the company to the new addition in the Mi Pad line-up are certainly incremental but fresh.
