Things are not the same for once rising star of Indian mobile sector. The Chinese invasion has led to blood bath and some bruises. The recent IDC data shows Micromax slipped to 6th position in market share from a healthy second spot. Xiaomi , Oppo and Vivo have surpassed the once popular Micromax.
The market is as competitive as it was ever for the mobile manufacturers. The situation is same for the Telecoms. Who are also bleeding after JIO launch.
Though not to despair, Micromax is working on a revival plan and is coming with a new series of Bharat Smartphones which are going to be a big step.
Recently Micromax launched the Vdeo series, they’re back again with a much more affordable option for people wanting to use the 4G network.
Micromax is all set to launch 2 new smartphones, Bharat 1 & Bharat 2 in the coming weeks.
The Bharat 1 smartphone would be the cheapest 4G enabled smartphone to hit the shelves at a price tag of Rs. 1,999. Although, it won’t be certified from Google and won’t be running Android, instead it’ll be based on a Java Operating System.
So technically, Bharat 2 will be the cheapest phone to run Android and 4G enabled feature at a price tag of Rs 2,999. There’s also Bharat 3 in the works, but Micromax hasn’t shared any details about it.
They’re aiming to sell at least 5-6 Million units of Bharat 1 & Bharat 2. The Bharat series is all set to compete with the LYF / Intex / Swipe / Lava and other low cost players, focusing mainly on 4G experience.
Whereas rest of the specifications are yet to be disclosed during the launch event. According to Micromax, Bharat 2 will be releasing during March end before the Bharat 1, which will be releasing around first/second week of April 2017.
Surprisingly, that’s the same week they’ll release their “premium smartphone” at around Rs 20,000 mark. It is long time they have had any major launch for the Yu series. The last decent Phone – Yu Yunicorn recently got a price cut and is available for Rs 10,499.
It’ll be their first premium smartphone after Canvas 6 Pro, which was released back in August 2016.
It’s rumored to have an all-metal body with prominent chamfered edges. It seems they’re all ready to release some winning smartphones in 2017.
The 4G revolution brought by Reliance JIO has made most of the smartphone makers to stop selling 3G phones above Rs. 5000 price range and 4G is a default feature now that consumers expect to be present in their phones.
Recently Lava launched the first 4G volte feature phone in the market, which was priced at Rs. 2999. There are strong rumors for JIO to launch LYF 4G VOLTE feature phones in the April to June Quarter with pricing as aggressive as Rs. 1299.
Smartphone manufacturers like Swipe telecom recently has launched a 4G VOLTE phone under Rs. 3,000 and there are more devices which could easily come with Volte support under 3K price range in the second half of 2017. The Blood bath is far from over, it is just the beginning ……
