Things are not the same for once-rising star of Indian mobile sector. The Chinese invasion has led to a bloodbath and some bruises. The recent IDC data shows Micromax slipped to the 6th position in the market from a healthy second spot. Xiaomi, Oppo, and Vivo have surpassed the once popular brand.
The market is hyper-competitive more than ever for the mobile manufacturers. Likewise, the situation is same for the Telecom operators that are also bleeding, after the JIO launch.
Although not to despair, Micromax is working on a revival plan and is coming with a new series of Bharat Smartphones. The company is seeing the series as a big step forward.
Recently, Micromax launched the Vdeo series. They’re back with a highly affordable option for people, wanting to use the 4G network.
Further, Micromax is all set to launch 2 new smartphones, Bharat 1 & Bharat 2 in the coming weeks.
Bharat 1 and Bharat 2 Details and Specs
The Bharat 1 would be the cheapest 4G enabled smartphone to hit the shelves at a price tag of Rs. 1,999. Although, it won’t be certified from Google and won’t be running Android, instead it’ll be based on a Java Operating System.
So technically, Bharat 2 will be the cheapest 4G phone to run Android, will be available for Rs 2,999. There’s also Bharat 3 in the works, but Micromax hasn’t shared any details about it.
They’re aiming to sell at least 5-6 Million units of Bharat Series phones. The Bharat series is all set to compete with the LYF / Intex / Swipe / Lava and other low-cost 4G phone manufacturers.
Whereas rest of the specifications are yet to be disclosed during the launch event. According to Micromax, Bharat 2 will launch in March end before the Bharat 1. Moreover, Bharat 1 will be available in early April 2017.
Surprisingly, that’s the same week they’ll release their “premium Yu smartphone” in Rs 20,000 price range. It is a long time they have had any major launch in the Yu series. The last decent Phone, Yu Yunicorn recently got a price cut and is available for Rs 10,499.
It’ll be their first premium smartphone after Canvas 6 Pro, released back in August 2016.
Cheaper 4G Phones Are Coming
Update, Micromax has recently unveiled the Bharat 3, Bharat 4 and Bharat 5 budget 4G mobiles in India.
The upcoming phone rumored to have an all-metal body with great design and build quality. It seems they’re all ready to release some winning smartphones in 2017.
The 4G revolution brought by Reliance JIO has made most of the smartphone makers to stop selling 3G phones above Rs. 4000 prices. Now, 4G is a default feature that consumers expect to be present in all phones.
Recently, Lava launched the first 4G volte feature phone in the market, which was priced at Rs. 2999. There are strong rumors for JIO to launch LYF 4G VOLTE feature phones in the April to June Quarter with pricing as aggressive as Rs. 1499.
Lastly, smartphone manufacturers like Swipe telecom have also launched 4G VOLTE phone under Rs. 3,000. And there are more devices which could easily come with Volte support under 3K price range in the second half of 2017.
