This is a strong rumor in the tech circles, and some internal gossip from Micromax that there seems to be some trouble between Micromax and Cyanogen. Micromax couple of days back launched an Android KitKat based Yu Yureka Plus on Amazon without the Cyanogen Mod.
The original Yureka Plus smartphone was launched with the Cyanogen Mod OS. (Those who are unaware about Cyanogen – it is a custom skin/mod which runs on top of Android Operating system and provide more options to customize the smartphone.).
Buyers like the Cyanogen mod and customizations it offers to the users. There was no need for the consumer side to buy the Yureka Plus with the dated Android KitKat OS vs. the Cyanogen Mod and Android Lollipop version of the device.

Also, it is an additional effort for the company to manage and roll out updates on different versions of the smartphone.
And today Yu Tele-ventures have launched the Yuphoria without the Cyanogen Mod running on Android Lollipop. The original Yuphoria smartphone came with Android Lollipop and the Cyanogen mod.
The NDTV gadgets also reported the news some days back about a possible split between the two companies.
Yu Televentures have cut down the price of the Yuphoria smartphone from Rs. 6,999 to Rs. 6,499. The price cut makes the Yu Yuphoria even sweeter deal for the buyers.
Yu Yuphoria comes with an HD Display with a 5.0-inch screen and Gorilla Glass protection.
The smartphone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 64-Bit processor and has Adreno 306 GPU to play modern Android Games.
Yu Yuphoria has 16 GB of internal storage. The smartphone has Dual Sim and supports high speed 4G LTE network. The Rear Camera is 8 Mega Pixel shooter while the front-facing camera has a 5 Mega Pixel lens.
When Rahul Sharma launched Yu Tele-venture and Yureka smartphone, he said that the pillars of strength for the company is the Cyanogen OS which is much advanced and user-friendly and great hardware.
The Old Story
Two consecutive smartphone launches in a gap of few days without the Cyanogen does hint something is cooking. We should take this with a pinch of salt until some official news come.
Readers might also be aware that when OnePlus One was launched, it was the first smartphone to bundle with the Cyanogen Mod.
At a later stage, Cyanogen Mod team had a fallout between them and the OnePlus. Carl Pie, the founder of OnePlus, was a tricky situation back then; even Micromax filed a case against them in India to prevent the sale of OnePlus One with Cyanogen Mod.
Micromax had an exclusive tie-up with Cyaonogen at that point in time.
There won’t be much impact to buyers or Yu Televentures as they have good hardware and Android support and very affordable pricing, along with strong Amazon backing.
In the event of a break out between the two companies, Cyanogen may find it difficult to find a major brand to partner with them. Moreover, they are already working with Huawei for some of the smartphones.
We hope the break out doesn’t happen and things go uphill for Cyanogen and Micromax as well as Indian Smartphone Buyers.
