Which is better? All of these handsets are the best seller in the mid-range segment. These handsets are all equipped with a powerful processor and have more than 1 GB Ram. The camera is 8 MP for all the three smartphones and has good autofocus for daylight photographs. I have used all three of them, and I liked the Zenphone 5 camera while the other two also are almost comparable.
Lets first see how all the three smartphones look when compared side by side, the Grand 2 is the largest of the 3 with the biggest screen size of 5.2 inches.
All three handsets offer excellent build quality and design; you may like Asus for the metallic finish and Moto G for the matte back panel and curves. Samsung Grand 2 design is more like the old Samsung S3 model with signature Samsung feel. Moto G on the positive note has the best design according to me. It is very easy to hold, nonslippery and curvy, like a Nexus 5. Zenphone 5 has smoothed edges & feel premier in hand.
Let’s dig deep into the Specs and Pricing of all 3 handsets and some useful insights to see which is better.

We have taken the 16Gb version of both the Asus Zenphone 5 and Moto G 2nd generation to compare with the Samsung Galaxy Grand 2. The reason was simple as the price difference increases more compared to the Samsung Device if we take 8 GB version.
Detailed Comparison & Thoughts:
Starting with the processor – Moto G2 and Samsung Grand 2 has same processor Snapdragon 400. While Asus has an Intel SOC, all these have an Antutu Score of 18k +- 10%, so relative performance is almost equivalent in GPU and CPU tasks.
Video Recording is 720p for Moto G 2 which is of lower grade compared to other two smartphones which offer 1080p recording.
Camera & Photography – All the three handsets offer good autofocus shots, Color reproduction and a powerful flash for low light photographs.
Front Camera is also similar in all the three devices nothing much there.
Screen Size: Samsung Grand 2 has a bigger screen measuring 5.2 inches if you would like a big screen device. Samsung may appeal to you. Asus & Moto G2 has a 5-inch screen which is idle.
Battery Capacity: Moto G2 (2070 mAh) Samsung Grand 2 (2600 mAh Lithium), Asus Zenphone 5 (2110 mAh). Samsung has an advantage here when it comes to the battery life. Also, the large battery makes it bulky; Grand 2 weighs 163 gm while other two have less than 150 gm weight.
Ram: Moto G has 1 GB, Samsung grand 2 has 1.5 GB, and Asus Zenphone 5 has 2 GB. Pretty much self-explanatory.
Internal Storage – Samsung Grand 2 has 8-GB internal memory while other two have 16 GB memory.
Android Version: Samsung Grand 2 can be updated to KitKat, and Asus/Moto G2 runs on KitKat. Now Google has announced the Android Lollipop, and it is tempting & tasty. With a Moto G2, you will certainly get a Lollipop update and that too very soon. For other smartphones can’t say when it will happen or not.
Conclusion: Moto G 2nd gen Vs. Samsung Grand 2 Vs. Zenphone 5
Coming to the price Moto G second generation is priced at 12,999 and so is Asus Zenphone 5. Samsung charges a premium over both the smartphones and is priced at 17,999 as of October 20, 2014. For the additional 5000 rupees, you can almost pick up a Xiaomi redmi 1s. Samsung is not an option for a value buyer like me, but it is a decent phone with good brand name, distribution after sales service. Samsung Grand 2 also has a bigger screen and Samsung TouchWiz user interface and slightly better battery life. You can buy it if you are a Samsung enthusiast.
Asus Zenphone 5 – has all the right features, superb quality and matches Moto G 2nd Generation in all aspects. It is an excellent value for money smartphone. You can surely buy it.
Moto G 2nd Generation – Great value for money smartphone. The earlier generation lacked the camera quality which is upgraded in the Moto G 2nd Generation to 8 MP from the previous 5 MP. It is sure to get the Android Lollipop update and have a superb finish and build quality. This can be your best bet.
