Flipkart has listed the new Motorola smartphone on it’s e-commerce portal. The new Motorola Moto G 2nd has 4 G LTE connectivity that was not there in the earlier Moto G model.
The smartphone is launched to coincide with the “Big Billion Day” sale which Flipkart is doing from 13 October to 17 October 2015. The smartphone will be available to purchase soon. At the time of writing the article Flipkart has listed it but pre-orders/buying has not started yet. The smartphone is likely to start selling from 14 October 2015.
The smartphone comes with 16 GB of Storage and is priced at Rs. 8,999. It may sound strange the 2nd Gen Moto G (3G) 16 GB variant is priced at Rs. 9,999 while the 4G variant is introduced at Rs. 8,999. If you are buying the Moto G 2nd Gen then must go for the 4G LTE version.
Most of the other Specs and design are same if we compare the Moto G 2nd Gen (3G) and the (4G) variant.
Processor – Just to reiterate Specs of Motorola Moto G, It is powered by the Quad Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, clocked at 1.2 Ghz. The smartphone comes with Adreno 305 GPU clocked at 450 MHz and is decent performer as far as mobile gaming is concerned.
Design – The design is very sturdy and smartphone looks and feel great to use. The curvy design ensures that it is easy to hold and use with single hand.
The smartphone comes with Dual stereo Speaker grill on the front and offers good call clarity and volume. The Motorola Moto G (4G LTE) has a weight of 149 grams and has a thickness of 11 mm. The smartphone has a water repellent coating but doesn’t mean it is waterproof.
The Motorola Moto G 4G LTE will be available in White and Black colors.
OS – The smartphone runs on the Android Lollipop OS 5.1 and offers users a near stock Android experience with least amount of bloat from the manufacturer.
Memory – The Motorola Moto G 4G comes with 16 GB of internal storage which can be expanded to 32 GB using a micro-sd card. The smartphone has 1 GB of Ram which I think is bit low considering lots of smartphones are coming with 2 GB of RAM in this price range.
Display – The Moto G has a 5 inch display with HD resolution (1280*720) and offers a 294 PPI. The screen is IPS LCD and is protected by the Corning Gorilla glass 3.
Battery – The battery capacity for the smartphone is 2390 mAH which is decent to make the smartphone last all day with moderate to heavy usage.
Camera Quality – The smartphone has a 8 Mega – pixel rear camera which comes with fast Autofocus and Led flash. Camera quality is good for Moto G, I have used it for sometime and found out that the rear camera is at par with most cheaper 13 Mega pixel smartphones. The best part about Moto G’s camera is fast focus and shoot ability.
The front camera is just 2 Mega pixel and is good for video calls and occasional broad daylight selfies. Indoor selfies look a bit grainy with the front camera.
Overall and Verdict
The Moto G is one of the top selling smartphone and with the price reduction it is likely going to get some more sales. It is a good smartphone with great design and build quality and would recommend the 4G version over the 3G version. The only little concern is the 1 GB RAM. If you want a good brand name and quality smartphone, Motorola is a great choice.
