Motorola today has launched the new Moto G4 Play smartphone available exclusively on Amazon India at an affordable Rs. 8,999. Motorola shared some days back on twitter that they would be launching a new smartphone soon in the Indian market and hinted that the G4 Play will be launched. The first sale for the smartphone will be at 10:00 pm Indian time on 6th September 2016.
Moto G4 Play comes with same design as the Moto G4 or the Moto G4 Plus. The Moto G4 Play is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 Processor clocked at 1.3 Ghz and comes with Adreno 405 GPU clocked at 450 Mhz. There is 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage which can be expanded to 128 GB using a micro-sd card. There is no fingerprint scanner on the Moto G4 Play.
The smartphone comes with the latest Android Marshmallow 6.0 and offers blissful near stock android experience.
The Moto G4 Play comes with 5 inch display and screen does not have 2.5D curve glass. The display has HD (1280*720) pixels resolution and offers 293 PPI.
The smartphone has a bland design something which can be said about it’s more expensive siblings. The plain design is not a head turner but is functionally good and look robust with metallic edges and poly-plastic back cover. The back cover has a matte finish, looks decent , but not a premium finish.
The Moto G4 Play’s key highlight would be long battery life with it’s 2800 mAH battery capacity which is decent to work all day. The battery is not enormously large to make the smartphone too heavy or too uncomfortable to use. The Moto G4 Play comes with fast charging support another positive to have in the modern smartphone.
G4 Play Offers Android Marshmallow 6.0 and VOLTE support
The smartphone has a thickness of 8.99 mm to 9.99 mm on the thinnest and thickest edge, it weighs 137 grams which is acceptable for a 5.0 inch display smartphone.
Another added advantage is the nano coating which protects the Moto G4 Play from splashes and water. (It is not water proof fully , but has water resistance).
The Moto G4 Play comes with a 8 Megapixel rear camera with f/2.2 aperture lens and can record full HD videos. There is a 5 Mega pixel front camera which can click clear selfies.
The Motorola Moto G4 Play comes with 4G LTE/ VOLTE support as well as conventional 3G / 2G and WIFI connectivity options to use high speed data.
Considering the pricing it is a good offering and definitely better than many other devices in this range. Motorola may not have the best of specs , but the quality control and user experience on the Moto smartphones still make me a fan of Moto.
I would have liked a better processor from Motorola on the new G4 Play, but nevertheless we can’t get everything in a tight budget.
