Moto Z2 Force India Launch Details – Too Late For India
The Moto Z2 Force is now listed on Flipkart and was unveiled in India on Thursday, 15th February 2018. The mobile is available only in 64 GB storage and 6 GB ram variant and costs Rs. 34,998. As a launch offer, Motorola is bundling the Turbo power pack Moto Modo with the device for free which otherwise costs Rs. 5,999.
Notably, Motorola launches in back in July 2017 and it went on sale on 10th August in the US. It is ridiculous that the brand waited for more than 7 months before launching it in India.
The 7 months period is a long time in the life of a mobile and the Moto Z2 Force seems to be outdated in comparison to its peers. However, let’s look at what new Moto Flagship has to offer.
The Moto Z2 Force edition is unique and is a different flagship than most other phones out there. Firstly, it is thin, I mean really thin measuring just 6.1 mm. It is even thinner than the Apple iPhone 7 which measures 7.1 mm.
Also, it is incredibly lightweight – weighs just 143 grams in comparison to 202 grams of iPhone 8 plus with similar screen size.

Moreover, it is strong and is made from tough Aluminium 7000 material. Notably, the Nokia 6 is made from aluminum 6000-grade material and is a pretty robust phone.
Key Features and Details
It is one of the most robust phones that you can buy in India. Moreover, it comes with a Shatter-shield, shatterproof display which is much harder to break in comparison to the normal displays that comes with the Corning Gorilla Glass.
Further, it comes with a 5.5 Inch Quad HD (2560*1440) pixels display with a Super AMOLED panel to offer great colors and viewability. Since it is not the latest Flagship device from the company it lacks the 18:9 bezel-free display but comes with the standard 16:9 display with larger bezels. This is one of the main reasons that make it so outdated even in comparison to mid-range phones like the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro.
Shattershield display and Aluminium 7000 is a rare combination you will find on any other device. The USP of the product is its unparalleled strength.
Dual Camera Details
The other cool feature that Z2 Force edition offers is a Dual Rear Camera, which comes with two 12 MP lenses. One lens is monochromatic and captures the image details while the second RGB lens captures the colors. Then both the images are merged and a final image is created with greater details and depth of field.
Also, it can offer bokeh effect while clicking images with background blur adjustment and even comes with support for 4K video recording. The camera uses the Sony IMX386 sensors with ƒ/2.0 aperture. We can expect great imaging capabilities from the new Moto phone. The other top camera features include – Zero Shutter lag, PDAF, laser autofocus and CCT (color corrected temperature) and Dual Led Flash.
For selfies, there is a humble 5 Megapixel front camera that comes with a dedicated front flash and
Motorola is not giving up on modularity or at least on additional accessories you can buy with a Moto Phone. Aforementioned, Motorola is offering the Turbo power pack Moto Modo free with the new phone and it comes with 3500 mAH capacity battery. You can plug it at the back using the magnetic connector pins to increase the battery life.
Back then, the company launched a new Moto 360 camera which you can clip to the smartphone and record 4K, 360-degree videos if that is what your heart desires.
The Moto 360 degree camera comes at a steep price of $299. Approx Rs. 20,000 in India. However, the brand has not shared any details about this camera availability in India so far.
Powering the phone is the Qualcomm Flagship Processor – Snapdragon 835 with a maximum clock speed of 2.45 GHz, along with the Adreno 540 GPU. It is a performance beast and comes with 6 GB Ram / 64 GB storage in India. Additionally, you can expand the storage up to 2 TB via micro-sd card using the hybrid sim slot.
Running on the latest Android Oreo 8.0 with near stock experience it offers a lag-free experience.
But, there is always a But – What about the battery life?
Most thin and sleek phones suffer from poor battery life and battery capacity. The Moto Z2 Force Edition is no exception. It comes with a 2730 mAH capacity battery with turbocharging support.
Either you can have it thin and sleek or can go for a long battery life phone like a Samsung S8 plus (8.1 mm thickness) which comes with a 3500 mAH capacity battery almost 20% more battery life. Although the battery life on the Moto Z2 Force is not going to be terrible; it is not great either.
Another notable thing, it does not have support for IP67 or IP68 rating to make it water and dustproof that is present on more expensive rival phones. At sub 40k price, the Z2 Force goes against the Huawei Honor View 10, crowd favorite Oneplus 5T and Mi Mix 2.
Major Cons – Z2 Force
- Lack of bezel-less display.
- Mediocre Battery life.
- Lack IP 68 rating.
- No wireless charging.
- Too late to market.
- Robust Shatterproof display.
- Modular Design.
- Extremely Sleek and lightweight.
- Latest OS from Google.
Undoubtedly, the Z2 Force is a decent phone with some unique flagship features and doesn’t ape rivals. But sad thing is that the brand is too late to the market. It would have been a great phone to buy in mid-2017 but it is way too late to the market.
Other than these low points, the Moto Z2 Force Edition is a cool looking, sleek, stylish phone which offers great performance and is the best companion for people who tend to drop their phones more often.
