Motorola forayed into the Indian smartphone market in 2014 and initially announced smartphones under three series- Moto E, Moto G, and Moto X. After the acquisition of Lenovo from Google, Motorola has been a different company.
The company kept the Moto E and Moto G for entry-level and mid-range smartphone buyers but killed the Moto X lineup in favor of the much better and modular Moto Z lineup of smartphones.
And in 2017, the brand is expanding the product portfolio by a significant margin. For example, Motorola has launched the affordable Moto C and C Plus smartphones this year for first-time smartphone buyers.
And then there are the Moto E4 and E4 Plus for budget buyers. And the Moto G5 and G5 Plus are already launched for mid-range buyers.
And the Moto Z2, Moto Z2 Force will launch on July 25. If you look at the product portfolio, Motorola is covering every price bracket starting from Rs. 6,000. The Moto C costs Rs. 5,999, while Moto C Plus costs Rs. 6,999.
The Moto E4 is priced at Rs. 8,999, whereas the Moto E4 Plus costs Rs. 9,999. The Moto G5 is available at Rs. 11,999, while the Moto G5 Plus starts at Rs. 14,999. The Moto Z Play is available at Rs. 24,999, whereas the Moto Z2 Play costs Rs. 27,999.
That being said, the Moto Z2 and Z2 Force will launch in August this year. If you look at the prices of Motorola smartphones, the only massive gap is between the Moto G5 Plus and Moto Z2 Play. And the company is looking to shave the deficit by launching the Moto X4 somewhere priced between the Rs. 15,000 and Rs. 25,000. And there would be the Moto G5s and G5s Plus between Rs. 150,00 and Rs. 20,000 as well, possibly Rs. 17,999.
The Moto X4 is expected to launch alongside the Moto Z2 and Z2 Force in the July 25 event in New York. But before the launch itself, the Moto X4 has been leaked numerous times revealing complete specifications of the phone.
The Moto X4 at the moment has two set of rumored specifications. The first specs suggest that the device will be a powerful mid-range smartphone, whereas the second set indicates a decent mid-range smartphone.
Coming to the first set, the Moto X4 will come with a 5.2-inch Full HD display layered with a 3D glass on top, and the Snapdragon 660 chipset will power it, clubbed with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage.
The device will come with dual camera setup at the back and a dominant 16MP front-facing camera.
A 3800mAh battery is said to fuel the smartphone.
And the second set suggests that the device will have a 5.5-inch display, Snapdragon 630 chipset, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, dual camera setup, and a 3000mAh battery. This variant also said to be a Moto X4 Mini, but nothing is confirmed for now.
All said the launch date of the Moto X4 is unknown for now. But there’s a massive possibility that Lenovo would announce it at the July 25 event.
