The new brand 10.OR has introduced their 3rd phone in India called 10.OR D.
Earlier, 10.OR has launched the 10.OR E (price Rs. 7,999) and the 10.OR G (price Rs. 10,999). Now, they have come up with the most affordable phone 10.OR D. It will be available from Amazon India for Rs. 4,999.
10.OR D India Launch Under “Crafted for Amazon Program
10.OR brand is managed by Amazon India, and Amazon has partnered with the Huaqin Technology Group (An ODM, based out of Shanghai, China) to manufacture the phones under “Crafted for Amazon Program.” Noticeably, Flipkart has recently introduced its Billion Capture Plus mobile brand a few weeks back. Likewise, Amazon now has its brand to offer budget mobiles.
Further, Xiaomi launched the Redmi 5A, successor to the Redmi 4A, on 7th December 2017. Also, Micromax has introduced the new Bharat 5 mobile to strengthen its budget portfolio against the Chinese rivals.
All the phones as mentioned above (Redmi 5A, 10.OR D and Bharat 5) are for budget mobile buyers, looking for a smartphone in the 5K price range.
Let’s talk about 10.OR D and its key specs and features, before making a detailed comparison with other two mobiles.
10.OR D Specs and Features
As mentioned above, the 10.OR D is available on Amazon for Rs. 4,999 and comes in two variants. The 16 GB storage and 2 GB Ram version is available for Rs. 4,999 and the 3 GB Ram, 32 GB storage version retails for Rs. 5,999.
The 10.OR D is aimed to kill Xiaomi Redmi 5A and even the Micromax Bharat 5, it comes with incredible specs for a very affordable price.
To begin with, the 10.OR D comes with a 5.2 Inch Display with HD (1280*720 pixels) resolution. The phone draws power from the tried and tested Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 Processor. The SD 425 is a Quad-Core processor that comes with 1.4 GHz clock speed and is paired with the Adreno 308 GPU.
Further, the 10.OR D runs on the latest Android Nougat 7.1 with near stock Android OS. There are hardly any additional Apps or settings added to the UI by 10.OR. Besides, the company is also promising the Android Oreo 8.0 update for all three phones they have launched so far.
Notably, the phone comes with a 13 Megapixel rear camera along with a LED Flash and autofocus support. It also has a 5-megapixel front selfie camera to click adorable images.
The distinguishing feature is the presence of a fingerprint scanner at the back of the device; it is a rare occurrence in this price range.
10.OR D has an impressive Battery Life & Fingerprint Scanner.
Further, to delight power users, the 10.OR D comes with 2 days of battery life and has a 3500 mAH capacity battery. Nevertheless, in real life, it may not work for two days but can easily go on for a full day even on the 4G network.
Lastly, the mobile has all the standard connectivity options including WIFI, Dual Sim, 2G, 3G, 4G LTE, VOLTE and even have the USB OTG support.
Based on above specs, it is safe to conclude it is a stellar offering by the brand at a very affordable price point. Undoubtedly, it is going to make a dent in Redmi 5A and Micromax Bharat 5 sale.
Moving next to the Redmi 5A, let’s see what it has to offer compared to 10.OR D.
Xiaomi Redmi 5A
Aforementioned, the Redmi 5A is available for Rs. 4,999. Xiaomi said: “They will increase the price of this model after the sale of 5 million units”. However, I think they will not, considering fierce competition from rival brands.
To start, the Redmi 5A comes with a 5.0 Inch HD (1280*720 pixels) display, and has 2 GB of Ram, 16 GB internal storage. The storage is expandable upto 64 GB, using the micro-sd card slot.
Similar to 10.OR D, it runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor and the Adreno 308 GPU. Further, the Redmi 5A comes with Android Nougat 7.1 along with the MIUI 9.0 that offers a lot of customizations and tweaks. Contrastingly, the 10.OR phone has a plain Android without any tricks and additional features.
For Photography, the Redmi 5A has a 13 Megapixel rear camera and a 5 Megapixel front selfie camera. Powering the mobile is a 3000 mAH capacity battery, that is capable of sailing it through the day.
Lastly, the Redmi 5A also comes with all the standard connectivity options and even has a dedicated micro-sd card slot, so you can use 2 sim cards and a micro-sd card simultaneously.
Let’s move ahead to the Micromax Bharat 5.
Micromax Bharat 5
Micromax has kept the name of the phone as “Bharat 5”, to create an emotional appeal, symbolizing the phone is made by an Indian brand. The Being Indian sutra is essential for Micromax as a lot of buyers are looking for phones that are made in India.
The new Bharat 5 is available for Rs. 5,499 in the market and Micromax is looking forward to selling 6 million mobiles in the Bharat series.
Firstly, the Bharat 5 comes with an incredible battery back-up, more than any of the phones as mentioned earlier. It has a massive 5000 mAH capacity battery.
Apart from the colossal battery, the Bharat 5 comes with a 5.2 Inch HD display (1280*720 pixels) and even has a 2.5D curved glass coating.
The phone looks esthetics and also runs on the latest Android Nougat 7.0 OS. Notably, it comes with a 5-megapixel rear camera and a 5 Megapixel front shooter with a dedicated flash.
Powering the phone is an underpowered MediaTek 6737 Quad-Core processor, and there is Mali T720 MP1 GPU to take care of gaming requirements.
Moreover, the phone comes with just 1 GB RAM and has 16 GB of internal storage, expandable to 64 GB. Lastly, it comes with the standard connectivity and audio options: 3.5 mm headphone jack, WIFI, 2G, 3G, 4G VOLTE and micro-USB support.
So that’s all about the three exciting phones in the 5K price range. Let me sum-up the facts, by sharing strengths of each mobile.
Major Strengths 10.OR D
- Powerful Snapdragon 425 Processor.
- Fingerprint Scanner.
- A large 3500 mAH battery.
- Good 5.2 Inch HD Display.
- Upcoming Oreo Update.
Overall, it is a great offering for a very affordable price, however, from a relatively new brand with less after sales service and support options.
Major Strengths Xiaomi Redmi 5A
- Fast SD 425 Processor.
- MIUI 9.0 and Android Nougat.
- Decent battery and Camera.
To Sum-up, Redmi 5A is a fantastic offering considering the specs but lacks fingerprint scanner and has a relatively smaller battery capacity.
Major Strengths Micromax Bharat 5
- Incredible Battery Capacity, 5000 mAH.
- 2.5D Curved Glass.
- Made in India by Indian Brand Stamp.
While Micromax Bharat 5 promises an extended battery life, it lacks a fingerprint reader, offers just 1 GB Ram and a lower resolution back camera. Supposedly, making it the least attractive of the lot, at least for me.
Which One Would I buy?
I think both the Redmi 5A and the 10.OR D are compelling options, and I am game for both these value for money phones.
