Motorola One Power is Officially Launched in India for Rs. 15,999
Motorola One Power
Motorola has finally woken up from sleep and is ready to battle the competition with the launch of the new Motorola One Power. This year the company launched some ridiculously priced phones such as Moto G6 and G6 Plus disregarding the competition entirely.
However, today the company has launched an aggressively priced One Power phone for Rs. 15,999. It is exclusive to Flipkart and will go on sale starting October 5th at 12:00 PM.
The new phone makes the other mobiles such as the Moto G6, G6 Plus, and even G6 Play look irrationally priced in the Indian market. Anyways let’s look at the new Moto phone and what it offers to the buyers.
Moto One Power Specifications and Details
The new Motorola One Power comes with beefy specs, starting with a massive 5000 mAH battery capacity which is sufficient to last at least 1.5 days. Also, there is a 15 Watts turbocharger given in the box by the company that manages to charge it to 100% in just 2 hours. (Dear Apple… I have no words for you).
Another, key highlight of the mobile is that it is an Android One Mobile and comes with the Google Stock Os Software (Android Oreo 8.1) and will also receive the Android Pie update soon.
It comes with Google Lens, Assistant and features like Moto Actions (shake to turn on the torch etc).
Powering the mobile is the tried and tested Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 Octa-Core Processor and Adreno 509 GPU. The processor comes with 1.8 GHz clock speed and is really capable at gaming and multi-tasking.
There are several rival phones in the similar price range such as the Nokia 6.1 Plus (SD 636), Zenfone Max Pro M1 (SD 636) RealME 1 (Helio P60) and the Xiaomi Mi A2 which competes with the Motorola One Power.
Additionally, it comes with 4 GB Ram (DDR4) and has 64 GB internal storage which is expandable using the micro-sd card slot. The good thing is it comes with a dedicated micro-sd card slot so you can use 2 sim cards and a micro-sd card simultaneously.
Further, it comes with a notch at the front and the phone has a metallic design which is totally different in comparison to the glass back design seen on the G6 and E5 series.
There is a 6.2 Inch IPS LTPS Full HD+ display (19:9 aspect ratio) 2340*1080 pixels. There is Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protecting the large full vision display.
Notably, the phone is bulky due to the massive battery and large display, it weighs 205 grams and measures 9 mm in thickness. Contrastingly the Zenfone Max Pro M1 weighs 180 grams and has 8.5 mm thickness.
The Moto One Power comes with a Dual Camera Setup with 16 Megapixel primary camera with f/1.8 aperture lens and 1.12-micron pixel size. The secondary camera has a 5 Megapixel lens with f/2.2 aperture.
Also, the selfie camera seems to be good as it comes with a 12 Megapixel, f/2.0 aperture lens.
The camera comes with 4K – 30 FPS support for videos and can even record 1080P videos at 60 FPS. Motorola has not shared if there is EIS support for videos.
The fingerprint reader is at the back of the mobile, and it even comes with face unlocking feature. The connectivity options include Dual Sim support with 4G LTE and VOLTE. Another good thing about One Power is that it comes with the USB Type C Port instead of the Micro-USB and also has the 3.5 mm headphone jack.
Motorola also teased that the One Power has the Widevine L1 support that enables you to watch Netflix and Prime Videos in HD resolution. (A feature missing on most rivals).
What’s More the phone comes with Dolby Audio Support a feature that will please the audiophiles. Lastly, it has Bluetooth 5.0 support and even has support for 2/4/5.0 GHz Wifi.
Overall, the Motorola Power One Looks like a great option, and a phone that Moto fans have been waiting for many months. I will most likely be ordering the retail unit and we will do a full review of the device soon.

P.S – Motorola will be 90 years old tomorrow and has a long history of many successful phones such as Moto Razr and the original Moto G.
Motorola has also launched the Motorola OneVision in India.
Moto E5 Plus and E5 India Launch
Update – 11/July/2018 – Motorola has launched the new Moto E5 and E5 Plus yesterday in India. After the launch of the Moto G6 and 6 Play now the company is bringing the latest phones for the buyers in the 10k to 12k price range.
Price and Availability
The Moto E5 and E5 Plus are available to purchase from Amazon India and are already on sale. The price for the Moto E5 Plus is Rs. 11,999 and it comes with 3 GB Ram and 32 GB storage. On the other hand, the Moto E5 costs Rs. 9,999 and offers 16 GB storage and 2 GB ram.
Launch Offer – On the purchase of Moto E5 Plus you can get Rs. 800 discount if you buy it using the SBI credit card.
Below are the original launch details for the Moto E5 series. Both the phones were first unveiled in the Brazil market back in April 2018.
Moto E Series 2018
After the launch of Moto G6 series (Moto G6 and G6 Play), company has now launched the more affordable Moto E series in India.
The new Moto E5 Plus and Moto E5 are battery life focused phones that also offer the modern 18:9 aspect ratio display. Similar to the Moto G6 series the E series also has got a revamped design, and now offers a more refined glass back look with reflective patterns.
Notably, these come with hidden antenna lines and have contoured edges that improve the grip and comfort.
There are some common features in the Moto E5 series such as all the devices run on the Android Oreo 8.0 out of the box with stock Android Experience.
Also, there is a selfie flash present on the front side, and the fingerprint scanner is present at the rear, embedded in the Moto Logo. Further, there is a water repellent coating (P2i) present on all the three devices, making these splash proof.
The connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Dual Sim, Bluetooth 4.2, Micro-USB, 3.5 mm Audio Jack.
Notably, there is no NFC support or USB-Type C port.
Moto E5 Plus
For starters, the Moto E5 plus comes with a massive 5000 mAH battery capacity that effortlessly offers 1.5 to 2 days of battery life. Also, there is fast charging support to ensure that you never run out of juice.
It comes with a 15 Watts Turbo Charger that offers 6 hours of battery life with just 15 minutes of charging. Apart from the long battery, the highlight of the device is its exquisite design which looks stunning. There is a reflective wave glass rear panel that looks stylish and modern.
Notably, the phone has a large 6.0 Inch Full Vision Display with 18:9 aspect ratio (sans the infamous notch). Additionally, the display has HD+ (1440*720 pixels) resolution and comes with Corning Gorilla Glass coating.
Powering the phone is the Octa-Core Snapdragon 430 processor and Adreno 505 GPU. The Snapdragon 430 is not the fastest or the latest processor but it gets the job done and considering the price it is not really too bad.
However, we would have liked an SD 450 or a Snapdragon 625 chipset. But Motorola this year is not offering good processors even in the G6 series that comes with the SD 450.
For imaging, there is a Single 12 Megapixel rear camera that comes with 1.25-micron pixel size and has F/2.0 aperture, PDAF / laser autofocus support. At the front, there is a 5 Megapixel front selfie camera with f/2.2 aperture and dedicated flash.
Another useful feature is the presence of both face unlocking as well as the fingerprint scanner. So you can choose the method you prefer to unlock your phone.
Furthermore, it comes with 32 GB internal storage (expandable up to 128 GB) and has 3 GB ram.
Lastly, it weighs a massive 200 grams (quite bulky) and has 9.4mm thickness.
The Moto E5 comes with a slightly smaller 5.7 Inch Display with 18:9 aspect ratio and HD+ (1440*720 pixels) resolution. Also, it comes with 16 GB internal storage (expandable up to 128 GB) and 2 GB Ram which seems to be low considering the price.
Most manufacturers are offering 3 GB ram / 32 GB storage in the 10k price range.
Powering the device is the old Snapdragon 425 Quad-Core processor that comes with Adreno 308 GPU.
You can’t expect lighting fast performance out this phone as we have tested the SD 425 in several other phones and it is an average performer.
Also, there are changes to camera configuration, as the E5 sports a 13 Megapixel rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and 1.12-micron lens. For selfies, it has a 5-megapixel front shooter with f/2.2 aperture.
There is a 4000 mAH capacity battery that is sufficient to last all day.
The phone uses a 10 Watts charger for rapid charging. Lastly, it has a thickness of 8.95 mm and weighs 174 grams.
Note – *The Moto E5 Play is not launched in India.
The Moto E5 series has a lot in common with the Moto G6 series. The design language is similar and features such as turbocharging and addition of bezel-free display are identical.
One good thing about the Moto E5 plus is that it comes with SD 430 in India instead of SD 425 in the global variant of the phone.
And at the moment the prices for the E and G series are a bit higher in comparison to competition phones such as RealME 1, Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1, Redmi Note 5.
Lastly, the E series has a lot of positives such as the presence of Android Oreo, Large battery, Stock Android Experience, and decent build quality.

The new G6 series looks exciting and Motorola is bound to get a lot of traction in the market. However, the key success factor in the hyper-competitive Indian market is the price. With recent aggressive launches by rival brands such as Asus, RealMe and Xiaomi the current price of Moto phones are on the higher side.
Also, recently Xiaomi has launched the new sub-brand POCO with the first phone as POCO F1 which is great value for money.
Besides, the ex-market leader Samsung seems to be sleeping and running the show with old models. Samsung is not able to compete with the latest offering from the Chinese manufacturers.
One thing is noteworthy here, both the Moto G6 and the G6 Play lack the muscle needed to compete with the likes of Redmi Note 5 Pro or the Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1. All said and done Snapdragon 450 and 430 are no match for the Snapdragon 636 or even the Helio P60 used in the Oppo RealMe 1.
Enthusiasts, looking for a snappy device will not find the new Motorola phones very exciting despite some really good features and specs. Besides, Motorola can make some impact on the ever-expanding Xiaomi empire with a more focused online as well as retail strategy.
Notably, Motorola is expanding the retail presence with utmost seriousness. They recently opened 25 Moto Hubs in North East, 60 in Madhya Pradesh, and 50 in AP and many more in other parts of the country.
