Nokia 3310 the phone which carries with it the legacy of the most robust mobile phone in the world, and is about to launch in India. HMD global has today sent an email communication to media partners including Candytech and confirmed the Price and availability of the Nokia 3310.
The Nokia 3310 will go on sale in India on 18 May 2017 and will be priced at Rs. 3310 in the country. The smartphone will be available across major stores in retail and may likely get listed online too on major e-commerce portals like Amazon and Flipkart.
Earlier it was alleged that the smartphone will be priced at Rs 3899 and will start the sale on 17th May 2017. But now after the official confirmation, the device will start sale in India on 18th May 2017 for Rs 3310 ( Nokia has matched the price with the model name – 3310).
The price seems to be too high considering it is just a 2G phone, you can buy 4G smartphones in this price range. A sub 3K price would have been better and considering Indian market Rs. 2000 would have been ideal to sell some numbers.
NOKIA 3310 (2017) India Sale Date 18 May
Nokia 3310 is a feature phone and may get some good sales volumes in the feature phone market. A lot of buyers may want it as a second phone to use for calls only.
The strategy by HMD digital and Nokia mainly focuses on regaining the market position of Nokia.
Anyone in today’s smartphone world would not prefer Nokia 3310 as there primary phone but that said Nokia 3310 might be the best secondary phone available for calling and listening music.
The Nokia 3310 is known for its toughness and rigidity. It has almost all the basic functions like calculator, calendar, stopwatch, games, alarm and you can even use it as your music player by simply plugging in your earphones or headphones or use the speaker on the Nokia 3310.
The new Nokia 3310 now features a 2.4” inch QVGA curved display with a polarized layer for better readability in sunlight.
The design and buttons now look beautiful and ergonomic.

OLD Nokia 3310
The Nokia 3310 will not work with the JIO network as it does not come with the support for VOLTE.
The device also comes with a 3.5mm audio jack and can be considered to offer good quality music content.
The major highlight of the phone is its 1200 mAh battery which can provide you with a talk time of up to 22.1 hours and a maximum standby time of up to one month which is enormous.
You can even enjoy some time passing games like Snake on your Nokia 3310. The device comes with 16GB of onboard storage which can be further expanded up to 32GB.
You can consider buying one if you love Nokia and want a durable phone with good battery life and a portable cute design. Nokia 3310 is tempting but would you buy it.
Should You Buy the Nokia 3310 – Is it Worth it?
The Finnish company, Nokia made a grand comeback under the leadership of HMD Global in January 2016, with the Nokia 6 smartphone. The new Nokia smartphones have embraced Android and finally given up on the Symbian OS. But not for their feature phone the much acclaimed – Nokia 3310.
It was announced at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017 in Barcelona, Spain. Nokia 3310 is confirmed to go on sale in India on 18th May 2017 and is priced at Rs. 3310. Price and model number for the new Nokia are in sync. Nokia 3310 Price = 3310.
The iconic Nokia 3310, which the company has sold over 127 million units alone is back to rule the world. The original Nokia 3310 was launched 17 years back. The new Nokia 3310 features a similar design language of the old-age Nokia 3310, but there are some improvements this time around to make the device look modern.
And yeah, the phone comes with the Nokia’s trademark ‘Snake’ game pre-installed, to add some spice. Nokia has gone with a colorful Snake game this time.
There are several improvements at the hardware level as well. The new Nokia 3310 comes with a 2.4-inch screen with ergonomic push buttons. Also, the phone ships with Symbian 30+ OS and it now has a 2 MP camera at the rear along with support for LED flash.
Nokia promises that the device will be as durable as the 2000’s Nokia 3310 and delivers exceptional battery life of 22 hours talk time. All that is good … but ….
Will You Buy a Nokia 3310 (2017), a feature Phone in the Era of incredible smartphones?
The Nokia 3310 is the most talked about mobile on the internet. Would have made the newly launched LG G6 and Sony Xperia XZ premium jealous.
But there is a strong emotional connect with Nokia brand like no other, and HMD has played the nostalgia card really well.
Ohh to my surprise even my nontech savvy friends are calling me to inquire about the Nokia 3310, and they want one in a hurry. Some of them are even willing to pay more.
The emotional connect is very strong and Facebook and Twitter have just made it another phenomenon like the Pokemon Go. Everyone wants to try it , and they have their own reasons.
For me, it can be a secondary phone as a trial or a detox from the overdose of staring at my super high-resolution mobile screen. You may be having yours, and secretly planning to get the cute little basta*d.
But when it comes to really giving cash for buying something, we will have to think. Be smart, don’t be emotional.
All in all, it’s a feature phone, and you can’t ask for high-end specifications from the same, but still let’s try to answer: Will you buy a feature phone in this era of smartphone?
I have already told you my plans above and maybe I will get one for the heck of it, maybe will just convince my self that it is for the review … but I am tempted and longing for it…
But not everything is good about it. Here are the shortcomings. Let me convince you, to not buy one.
Notably, one of the biggest letdown with the phone is lack of support for 3G and 4G networks. Jio seriously …. no, you can’t use the JIO sim with the Nokia 3310. Period. JIO uses 4G VOLTE network even for voice communication while the Nokia 3310 comes with only 2G support.
That will be a different story if somehow Mukesh Bhai convinces Nokia to have 4G support for it’s 3310 Indian version. It won’t happen though.
Also, with this decision, the phone might not be usable in some other countries such as the US and Australia as they have already ditched the 2G network. This gives me a reason to buy actually.
Also, Nokia-owned by new company HMD needs to keep a check on the pricing as well. Recently, a Lava phone has been launched with support for VoLTE, which means that you can use a Reliance Jio 4G SIM Card to make voice calls and that phone is priced at Rs. 3333 in India.
And JIO is also planning to launch feature phones with 4G Volte support at half the price of your Nokia 3310.
I don’t think you would have changed your decision after reading the above shortcomings. I haven’t, even after writing them.
O’ common guys this is Nokia and it is cheap and cute … let’s get one.
On the serious note do share with me in comments below if you plan to buy one or not. Nokia has also launched the Nokia 6 which I have tested and reviewed recently.
