Nokia has launched the first ever tablet powered by Android version 5.0 Lollipop. While no one was expecting Nokia to move into the Tablet business this comes as a surprise to the tech enthusiasts. The new tablet draws a lot of similarities with the iPad Mini 2 which was launched some time back. Recently Nokia brand name was pulled out from the Lumia series of smartphones and was re-branded as the Microsoft Devices with the Launch of Microsoft Lumia 535. It is launched for USD 250 price tag which is very attractive for budget buyers. It will be available for Rs. 16,000 or 287 Australian Dollars or £ 160.
Update – 07- March-2015 – We are still waiting for the Nokia N1 tablets to go on sale in India, yet no news about the availability of Nokia N1 Tablets. The N1 Android tablets went on sale in china and in 4 minutes time 20,000 tablets were sold. The tablets are really good with excellent built quality and offers strong performance with Antutu score as high as 45,000.
The Nokia Tablet know as N1 is 7.9-inch, 2048×1536 (4:3) IPS LCD with Gorilla Glass 3 and comes fully laminated zero air gap display to offer great readability for the users. The tablet is powered by the latest processor from the Intel’s stable – 64-bit 2.3GHz Intel Atom Z3580. processor idle for multi tasking and playing games. The GPU which is bundled with the device is PowerVR G6430. The Nokia N1 tablet sports 8 megapixel rear camera, 5 megapixel front camera for all the photography needs. Nokia would have built in all the magic of Camera features which they did with the Lumia Series of Smartphones.
The Nokia N1 tablet has 2 GB of RAM and 2GB built-in memory (non-expandable). It is only wifi model and offer the following Connectivity solutions – Dual channel 802.11a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi with MIMO, Bluetooth 4.0. It comes with a Micro-USB 2.0 with a Type-C reversible connector for charging and transfer of data. The Stereo speakers will make you listen to the music on this thin 6.9mm tablet. The Height of the tablet is 200.7mm & width is 138.6 mm, it is weighs 318 gm. The battery is 5300mAh battery and is of decent capacity tp make sure that you are able to run it for hours before you need to charge it again. The design draws comparison to the iPad Mini with Unibody aluminum design; available in Natural Aluminum or Lava Gray colors.
It is good option from a top brand like Nokia and powered by Android Lollipop we would have expected this few years earlier from Nokia. Nevertheless we may see the tablet space become hotter with Nokia, Apple and Google all fighting for the market share.
