The GTX 1070 Ti utilizes the Delta Color Compression modes with up to 8:1 compression ratios which improve the efficiency and performance of the GPU.

The Nvidia GTX 1070 Ti is significantly faster when compared to the Nvidia GTX 970 (about 2X performance) and performs better compared to the GTX 1070 in all games.

Here is a performance comparison (FPS) between the three cards.

Key Details and Specs

The new GPU comes with the GP104 architecture which is similar to the 1080 and 1070, and it uses 7.2 Billion transistors to ensure you get mindblowing performance on PC as well as VR.

The Nvidia GTX 1070 Ti comes with more number of Cuda Cores compared to the GTX 1070.Also, the GPU has 19 SM units (stream processors).

The 1070 Ti has 2432 Cuda Cores when compared to 1920 on 1070 and 2560 on the GTX 1080.

The GTX 1070 Ti comes with a base clock speed of 1607 which is also higher in comparison to 1506 on the GTX 1070.  While earlier it was rumored that Nvidia could remove the ability to overclock the GTX 1070 Ti, it is not true.

In fact, Nvidia has said that they have improved the cooling efficiency of the new GTX 1070 Ti to offer more room for overclocking.

You can use the GTX 1070 Ti with a single pin connector utilizing 8 Pinpoints.

The Power Draw is bumped up from 150 Watts in GTX 1070 to 180 Watts for the GTX 1070 Ti. The Nvidia GTX 1070 Ti gets close in configuration to the GTX 1080 and Gamers can expect a boost of around 20% compared to the GTX 1070.

The Nvidia GTX 1070 Ti comes with 8 GB of VRAM (GDDR5) and also has 256 Bit memory width similar to the GTX 1070.

Branded GTX 1070 Ti Cards

Most Nvidia GPU vendors like Asus, Gigabyte, MSI, Palit, Inno 3D, Galax, XFX, and Zotac will have their version of the GTX 1070 Ti and will come with a custom cooling solution as well as different Core clocks.

Moreover, the board partners will also release the OC edition of the GTX 1070 Ti. These will push the cards to limit to get more gaming performance and even have more room for overclocking.

Nvidia also has the GTX 1070 Ti Founders edition which comes with the copper vapor chamber cooling solution, similar to the GTX 1080 to ensure a higher OC potential. The company has also said that there will be Mini GTX 1070 Ti, which will be ideal for the mini-ITX system to offer exceptional performance in a compact form factor.

Nvidia GTX 1070 Ti Vs. AMD Vega 56 (Average FPS)

Additionally, Nvidia has also shared some performance benchmarks. That shows that the GTX 1070 Ti is faster in comparison to the AMD Vega 56 graphics card. These are the initial numbers we were able to get from Nvidia, but more testing and independent reviews will make this more clear.

Moreover, the Test Rig uses an Intel Core i9-7900X CPU and at 2560*1440 pixels resolution. The results are likely to vary when we use a 1080P or 4K resolution.

Nvidia GTX 1070 Ti SLI Performance (Average FPS)

Here are some early benchmarks that show GTX 1070 Ti performance in SLI Vs a single card performance. The latest gaming titles like  Ashes of singularity, Hitman, Rise of Tomb Raider, Fallout 4 are tested.

  1. Hi Kanuj,

GPU prices are too high these days almost surge of 50-70%. Any chance to go down in near future?

    • They might in a couple of months if the cryptocurrency miners stop buying them. That may happen in case the cryptocurrency prices drop, the good news is prices are dipping and we may see a correction and sell off by miners… but may take few months…

  2. Monitor is Dell S2240L. Ya 1060 (6gb) is too costly available around 30K. Last time my pc build was suggestd by you almost 2.5 yrs back and till date I am happy with performance. Now my GTX 960 2GB is not capable to play games in 1080p high/ultra details hence I am planning to upgrade only GPU even my budget does not allow to upgrade CPU/MB at the moment. Pls advise considering 2-3 yrs of future proof.

    • Ohh I like that Dell S2240L, even has it on my second PC. Anyways since you don’t want to upgrade the CPU/MB better look for the 1050 Ti or the GTX 1060 3 GB whatever fits your budget. I would have recommended the 1060 6 GB in case you were planning a processor upgrade in near future.

  3. Hi Kanuj,

Which graphic card would you suggest now? my rig 15-4440- 3.1 ghz, gigabyte b85m d3h, 8gb ram, GTX 960 and planning to upgrade to GTX 1060 (6GB).

    • Hmm what resolution monitor you have, that CPU is bit old and not the fastest i5. It may create a bottleneck for the GTX 1060, you may research it more. Also, It may not be able to use the full potential of the GTX 1060 6 GB. Ideally, for the GTX 1060, you may need a better CPU. Also how about the 1050 ti or the GTX 1060 3 GB that may cost less and work well with rest of your parts.

  4. Awesome work.Just wished to drop a comment and say i’m new your journal and adore what i’m reading. Thanks for the share
