OnePlus 3 is one of the most anticipated smartphone of 2016 and it got launched yesterday night. The launch was done using the VR platform and OnePlus already distributed about 30,000 Loop VR headsets for fans to watch the Live Event.
Though unwittingly Amazon India guys killed the surprise with an email accidentally dent to some of the users who have subscribed for the Loop VR before the launch event. The email was sent around 8:00 PM IST and shared all the details and specs along with the launch price and time of sale for the OnePlus 3.
All that effort to create the hype for Loop VR sale at Re. 1 and wait to know more about the device and exact specs was surely ruined with the mistake from Amazon India.
The OnePlus 3 is already on sale in India starting from 15 June at 12:30 am (night), priced at Rs. 27,999. The smartphone is currently available in the graphite color. Also the invite system is gone and you can buy the smartphone without hunting for those coveted invites.
The OnePlus 3 comes with all metal design and offers more premium build when compared to the OnePlus 2. OnePlus team shared that they have carved the OnePlus 3 from a single slab of aluminum to make the smartphone ultra thin and robust at the same time.
The OnePlus 3 is quite thin slightly thicker than the iPhone 6s and measures 7.3 mm, and it has a body weight of 155 grams which is decent considering the 5.5 inch screen size.
The smartphone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor (Quad Core Clocked at 2.2 GHz Kryo Cores) and has the Adreno 530 GPU for playing games.
The smartphone comes with massive 64 GB UFS 2.0 storage which is non user expandable. The OnePlus 3 comes with 6 GB of LPDDR4 , call it an overkill but definitely it makes your OnePlus 3 more future proof than any other smartphone out there currently. Notably Oneplus 3 is the first 6 GB RAM smartphone to go on sale in India.
The Oneplus 3 comes with Full HD (1080P) 5.5 inch Amoled display with a pixel density of 401 PPI. OnePlus has not upgraded the resolution to 2K to match Samsung S7 and other rivals and probably it is not a big deal considering a FHD display is a very good option for a 5.5 inch device. The display is protected by the Corning’s Gorilla Glass 4.
The smartphone comes with features like night mode and dark theme to make the display more user friendly at night.
The OnePlus 3 has an improved camera optics system with rear camera coming with 16 MP lens (Sony IMX 298 sensor) , f/2.0 aperture , PDAF and Optical image stabilization. The rear camera can record 4K videos and it can also record 720p slow motion videos.
The front camera for the smartphone is a 8 megapixel sensor which comes with SonyIMX 179 sensor for clicking incredible selfies.
The OnePlus 3 has Dual Sim support and offers 4G LTE support, the smartphone comes with NFC support which was missing from the OnePlus 2 and also has the reversible USB type C port for charging.
The battery capacity of OnePlus 3 is decent with 3000 mAH non removable battery. The battery charging system uses a new technology known as the dash charging which enables fast charging of the smartphone with reduced amount of heat generation. The Oneplus 3 can get charged super quick with upto 60% , in just 30 minutes.
The OnePlus 3 runs on the latest Android Marshmallow 6.1 OS along with the custom Skin Oxygen. The OS offers great user experience which is nearly stock and comes with nifty features like double tap to wake the smartphone and scribble an O to open the camera app.
There is a ceramic-coated fingerprint Scanner which is embedded in the front home button and offers a fast unlocking experience with (<0.2 seconds) speed.
Overall the OnePlus 3 packs everything that anyone can desire and more for the price of Rs. 27,999. It is much cheaper compared to the HTC 10, LG G5 and the Samsung S7 , nearly at 50% of the price of these. A lot of users will find it great value for money and definitely it is one of the best smartphones available for the price currently.
