OnePlus 5 Vs Oppo F3 Plus – The Better Choice

OnePlus launched its latest Flagship killer smartphone dubbed as ‘OnePlus 5’ in India.  There are two variants i.e OnePlus 5 (6 GB RAM) and OnePlus 5 (8 GB RAM) priced at Rs 32,999 and Rs 37,999 respectively.  Oppo launched its top-tier smartphone ‘Oppo F3 Plus’ in March 2017. Oppo F3 Plus comes with a price tag of approximately Rs 30,990. Oppo F3 Plus can be purchased via various online stores now at a reduced price of Rs. 27,990. OnePlus and Oppo both are Chinese smartphone manufacturer.

OnePlus and Oppo both are part of the same company and Vivo brand also below to the same company. All these 3 brands belong to BBK Electronics which is the parent company, Headquartered in Changan, China.

DISPLAY AND DESIGN

Both the mobile have metal body on the Rear side and Gorilla Glass 5 on Front. OnePlus 5 comes with 5.5 inch display with 1920 x 1080p resolution and 401 PPI. On the other hand, Oppo F3 Plus has a larger display with 6.0 inch display with 1920 x1080p and 367 PPI. Both the smartphones come with Fingerprint sensor at the front embedded in the Home Button.

OnePlus 5 weighs 153 grams and has 7.25 mm of thickness. Oppo F3 Plus has 185 grams weight and it is 7.35 mm thick. Both the devices are sleek, while OnePlus 5 has a smaller display Oppo F3 Plus is a large phone.

PROCESSOR AND RAM 

OnePlus 5 is powered by 64 bit 2.45 GHz Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 Processor with Adreno 540 GPU and 6 GB of RAM. On the other side, Oppo F3 Plus is armed with 1.95 GHz Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8976 Pro (Snapdragon 653) Processor with Adreno 510 and 4 GB RAM.

Performance wise the OnePlus 5 is far superior compared to the Oppo F3 Plus by a big margin. Though Snapdragon 653 is a fast processor can score close to 85,000 on the Antutu benchmark, the Snapdragon 835 is based on 10 Nm process and offers almost twice the performance of a Snapdragon 653. Antutu Score is close to 1,60,000 for the processor.

Operating System

Oppo F3 Plus despite being a premium phone comes with the dated Android Marshmallow 6.0 operating system. There is Color OS 3.0 from Oppo to add customizations to the vanilla Android OS.  On the other hand, the OnePlus 5 comes with the latest Android Nougat 7.1 OS, along with the Oxygen OS which definitely offers better user experience compared to the Oppo F3 plus.

OnePlus 5 will also be one of the earliest devices to get the Android O update when it comes in fall this year. Oppo F3 will get the Android Nougat update but Android O may or may not come.

STORAGE 

OnePlus 5 comes with 64 GB of non-expandable internal storage. On the other hand, Oppo F3 Plus has 64 GB internal memory expandable up to 256 GB via Micro-SD Card. This is a big plus for people looking for a phone with larger storage.

CAMERA

As far as the camera department is concerned, OnePlus 5 packs Dual Camera (16 MP + 20 MP) on the Rear side with electronic image stabilization (EIS) and it also has a decent 16 MP Front shooter. For imaging, Oppo mobile has a single 16 MP Rear camera that uses a similar Sony IMX398 sensor used in the OnePlus 5.

Also, It shares the same f/1.7 aperture and has Dual Selfie Camera (16 MP + 8 MP) for clicking selfies with bokeh effect.  If you are more into taking selfies than Oppo F3 Plus is an exciting option, for others, the Dual rear camera on the OnePlus 5 may be more enticing.

BATTERY LIFE 

We have a 3300 mAh capacity battery fueling the Oneplus that comes with Fast charging support (Dash Charging). Noticeably, it can charge 50% in just 30 minutes, a splendid performance for the fast charging technology from OnePlus.

To sum up the above discussion concisely – The users who wish to have faster CPU, More RAM, Better Rear Camera and lightweight smartphone can opt for OnePlus 5. Whereas, buyers who want memory card support, a bigger display, better Selfie Camera and great battery backup can choose Oppo F3 Plus.

I don’t take too many selfies and if you ask me, I would rather choose the high performance OnePlus 5.
