OnePlus One abbreviated as OPO was the first Android smartphone unveiled by a Shenzhen based Chinese company, OnePlus. OPO was launched in April 2014 as an underdog. Nobody was sure how successful the venture would be.
At the moment, Oneplus is the most popular brand beating even Samsung and Apple in India. A recent IDC study claims that Oneplus has over 57% market share in the above Rs. 26,000 price range, way ahead of both Apple and Samsung in India.
OnePlus 5T With a Full Vision Display
It’s all because of their flagship and premium features that are offered at half the prices of the other high-end smartphones.
In the June 2016, OnePlus launched OnePlus 3 and the phone was highly acclaimed by enthusiasts. Only six months later, an upgraded sibling with a barely hiked price was introduced under the name OnePlus 3T.
On the 20th of June, this year, OnePlus unveiled the OnePlus 5. And the company is planning to repeat the history.
Launch and Sale OnePlus 5T
It’s been five months since OnePlus 5 launch, and the company is expected to launch the new 5T soon. The Oneplus 5T launch has been confirmed by the company, and the launch event is on 16th November 2017. You will be able to watch the live stream at 9:30 pm in India.
Also, the company has confirmed that the OnePlus 5T will go on an early sale on 21st November 2017, at 4:30 pm IST. It is most likely to go on sale on the official Oneplus website and also on the Amazon India portal (we will confirm this information in the coming days).
OnePlus 5T Leaked Image
There were a lot of upgrades for 3T from OnePlus 3 in terms of Chipset, Camera, and battery backup.
Now we can’t think of possible serious performance upgrades, as the OnePlus 5 already offers the best chipset in the market and a great dual camera setup.
OnePlus 5 Key Specs and Details
But the render that’s leaked by GizmoChina suggests that the OnePlus 5 will get an upgraded bezel-less display.
It might house a 6 Inch Full HD+ 1080 x 2160 pixels display with an aspect ratio of 18:9. The OnePlus 5 currently comes with a 5.5 Inch Full HD Display with 16:9 aspect ratio.
Also, the render looks like Oppo F5 that was launched last week and as the OnePlus and Oppo are from the same parent company they usually some have similarities. As in the past, OnePlus 5 came as the spitting image of Oppo R11 Plus which was launched in China only.
Notably, it will be the first phone after the OnePlus 2 to come without a front home button.
There may be a similar battery size as the OnePlus 5 and it also likely to come with the same Snapdragon 835 and 8 GB RAM with 128 GB storage.
We also expect the device to run on Android V, 8.0 Oreo out of the box similar to the recently launched Google’s Pixel 2 / Pixel 2 XL. There are unlikely to be an inclusion of features like the wireless charging or addition of IP 67 rating in the new OnePlus 5T.
The 3.5 mm Headphone Jack and Wireless Charging
Pete Lau (co-founder One Plus) has confirmed that they will continue with the Dash Charging support as it offers much faster charging and is currently not going to provide Wireless charging for the OnePlus 5T.
Pete Lau also stated that the wireless charging doesn’t allow users to play games or watch videos simultaneously while charging the phone as it has to be kept on the charging pad.
Also, OnePlus has confirmed that the phone will come with the 3.5 mm headphone jack, and the company thinks that removing the headphone jack is not a good trade-off to make the device thin. OnePlus in the blog post explained that about 80% of people use the headphone jack and there is a wide variety of wired headphones available in the market which offer excellent sound experience.
An Upgraded Camera
The new Oneplus 5T is also expected to come with a new Dual Rear camera with 20 MP + 20 MP resolution. Even, the company has hinted that the camera will offer better low light imaging compared to the Oneplus 5 which means the lens will come with either f/1.7 aperture or even a 1.6 aperture to enhance the images in low light conditions.
The Front selfie camera is expected to be same 16 MP shooter and is unlikely to get an upgrade.
Final Words and Pricing
Most smartphones in 2017 later half are coming with a bezel-less display, even budget phones like Lg Q6 and Canvas Infinity are launched with this voguish feature.
As per a recent report, by TechRadar, the phone is expected to launch at the same price as OnePlus 5. So, the 6 GB Ram and 64 GB storage variant will cost Rs. 32,999 while the 8 GB Ram and the 128 GB storage version will have a price tag of Rs. 38,999.
Based on the specs leaked and shared by the Oneplus team the new OnePlus 5T looks promising, and the top 2 features are going to be an improved rear camera and the Bezel-less display. Oneplus has recently faced the ire of fans globally for collecting some of the personal data, which the company said was meant for improving the user experience.
OnePlus would like to forget that and concentrate on the upcoming Flagship phone.
