The main reason why Oneplus is so successful in India and other countries is fair pricing, and this year it is no different. The Oneplus 6 costs just Rs. 34,999 for the 6 GB ram and the 64 GB version. While the 128 GB storage and 8 GB ram version will set you back by Rs. 39,999.

Notably, OnePlus 5T was launched for Rs. 32,999 for the 64 GB storage and 6 GB ram version in November 2017.

The Oneplus 6 will ship in 3 color variants: mirror black (with a glossy shiny surface), midnight black (matte finish), and the Silk White.

The black variants will go on sale as stated above while the white version will launch on 5th June 2018. Also, OnePlus has launched a new pair of Oneplus Wireless Bluetooth headsets that costs Rs. 3,999.

Without further Ado, let’s dive straight at the best features for OnePlus 6.

Top Features – OnePlus 6

Design

Oneplus CEO Mr. Carl Pei spoke at length about the new OnePlus 6 design at the launch event in London.

It is the first flagship phone from the company that uses a glass back cover similar to Samsung S9 or the Apple iPhone X. (OnePlus launched a mid-range phone OnePlus X in 2015 that came with the glass back design).

Besides, the company has used a metallic back cover for all the phones including the Oneplus 3, 3T, 5 and 5T. The first Oneplus phone came with a ceramic back but now the company has finally chosen the glass back that uses the Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

The glass back design looks stunning, and both the matte black and glossy black variants have their own charm, it is more of a personal choice which one should you pick up. For me, I will go with the matte finish.

But what about the 3rd color – White, it looks great the only thing I dislike is the golden fingerprint scanner, it should have been white with a golden ring but anyways, overall the white color looks refreshing and different.

The One Plus 6 is not too thick, it measures 7.75 mm and weighs 177 grams.

What’s more, it comes with a water-resistant design and you don’t need to worry about splashes or if it gets wet in the rain. However, it doesn’t come with the IP67 certification and Oneplus says that just don’t take it for a swim, otherwise you are good to use it in all weather conditions.

Display

There is a gorgeous 6.28 Inches optic AMOLED display that fits in a phone body that is equivalent to a 5.5 Inch phone with 16:9 aspect ratio. Notably, the Oneplus 6 comes with a 19:9 aspect ratio display and even features the infamous notch at the top.

However, you can hide the notch using the display settings and there will be a black bar at the top. Noticeably. the notch on the OnePlus 6 is smaller in comparison to the iPhone X, if that is a relief for some.

The notch is not going anywhere and Apple has set the precedent for 2018, and now Android phone makers are following it sheepishly.

Further, the display comes with the FHD+ resolution with 2280*1080 pixels resolution, have Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection and 2.5D curved glass.

Performance

Apart from the immaculate design, the Oneplus 6 promises around 30% faster performance in comparison to the Oneplus 5T.

In fact, the company shared a Speed test video that proves the Oneplus 6 is faster than both the iPhone X and the Samsung S9.

Powering the OnePlus 6 is the top of the line Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor that comes with the new Adreno 630 GPU.

Notably, the Snapdragon 845 uses the 10 Nm manufacturing process and comes with 8 Core architecture with a maximum clock speed of 2.8 GHz.

Aforementioned, you can buy the Oneplus 6 in 6/8 GB LPDDR4X ram variants but there is not going to be much difference in Speed as far as the day to day performance is concerned.

The phone boots Android Oreo 8.1 along with the custom Oxygen OS skin on top. Moreover, Oneplus 6 is one of the first non-pixel phones that comes with support for running Android P (developer build).

Also, there is an oval shaped fingerprint scanner at the back for fast unlocking and the phone even comes with the face unlocking technology that is super fast.

Camera

Going with the trend, Oneplus has included dual cameras at the back. The primary camera comes with 16 MP, Sony IMX 519 Lens with 1.22 µm pixel size and has a f/1.7 aperture.

The secondary camera offers a 20 MP lens, with Sony IMX 376K sensor with 1.0 µm pixel size and f/1.7 aperture. Besides, the primary camera comes with Optical Image stabilization while the secondary camera lacks it.

There is support for 4K videos @ 30/60 FPS and you can even record slow-motion videos at 240 FPS in FHD or 480 FPS at 720P resolution.

You can also click some deep bokeh affect portrait shots and even shoot raw photos in the Pro mode.

At the front, there is a 16 Megapixel selfie camera that has Sony IMX 371 sensor with 1.0-micron pixel size and a fixed focus.

The camera performance is probably better than the 5T but not in the same league as the S9 Plus, Pixel 2 XL or the Huawei P20 Pro.

Also, it will be unfair to compare these phones that actually cost twice of this Oneplus wonder.

Battery Capacity and Connectivity

Next, it comes with a 3300 mAH non-removable battery that offers fast charging (dash charging support). Oneplus has not increased the battery size, however, a 10% increase would have made it even better.

Neither has Oneplus enabled wireless charging support, as the company believes it is much slower, in comparison to their dash charging technology.

Moreover, it comes with all the modern connectivity options such as Dual Sim, 4G VOLTE, Bluetooth 5.0, apTX, NFC, and USB Type C 2.0.

Lastly, there is an Avengers edition Oneplus 6 that costs Rs. 44,999, and it comes with 256 GB storage and 8 GB ram.

Also, the phone comes in a 256 GB storage version in other colors too but these are not coming to India anytime soon.

man icon thoughtsInitial Thoughts

The new OnePlus 6 looks promising and comes with super fast performance, stunning design, fluid UI, decent battery and good cameras.

But is it perfect, or highly innovative? No. There is a little innovation, everything OnePlus 6 offers is available on other phones but the key differentiator is the price that is unmatchable.

The price is adequate and considering most flagship phones are available over 50K, Oneplus 6 is an excellent value for money.

So, What are your thoughts about the Oneplus 6, share with us in the comments below…..
