The most awaited 5.0-inch screen Oneplus smartphone was launched on October 29, 2015, by the OnePlus team and it brings a lot of positives for the brand and OnePlus fans worldwide. The smartphone recently got a price cut from Rs. 16,999 to Rs. 14,999 in April 2016.

OnePlus is hardly two-year-old company and has proven itself to be Apple of China with keeping a higher commitment to quality. Carl Pie, the founder and CEO of the company, says we may not be able to launch a $100 or $150 smartphone as they will not be able to provide quality in that price range.

One Plus X will be available in Onyx version and the ceramic version. The smartphone is quite thin considering the 6.9 mm thickness and it also considerably lighter weighing only 138 grams.

The smartphone is light in weight and easy to carry and keep in the pocket due to the ideal 5.0-inch screen size.

The new OnePlus X was priced at $249 or Rs. 16,999 in the Indian market. On 3rd April 2016, the price has got reduced to Rs.14,999. There has been stiff competition from LE1S, Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 and Huawei Honor 5X to the One Plus X.

We cannot say that it is a budget mid-range smartphone. Most the smartphone liked by budget value buyers are priced below 10,000.

It is more of a premium design smartphone with a smaller screen size compared to the Oneplus 2 and also misses on the flagship processor and fingerprint scanner.

Where OnePlus X stand out is one of the best design and build quality in this price and segment.  The design and build quality for the OnePlus X is at par with Nexus 5 or Samsung S5 which are now priced around 20K.

OnePlus X Should I buy it or not? The Oneplus X comes with an aged Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 which is seen in 1.5 years old smartphones like the OnePlus One and the Xiaomi Mi4. The processor is clocked at 2.3 GHz and is a 64 Bit Quad Core.

The GPU is Adreno 330 which is excellent for gaming. Also, the processor and GPU are less prone to heating as per experience in other devices. The smartphones come with 3 GB Ram enough for multi-tasking and playing games.

The smartphone comes with a dual sim and has 4G LTE support along with the native 3G and 2G.  There is a bottom facing speaker and Dual microphone with noise cancelation to ensure clear sound reception.

The OnePlus X

The smartphone has a fast autofocus rear camera with 13 Megapixel resolution which can take incredible pictures. OnePlus X has an 8 Megapixel front camera which is an astonishing shooter if you are a selfie lover.

But by no means is a slow processor, it is a still relevant and much better than the Qualcomm 615 used in many smartphones like the Moto X Play which is priced slightly higher than the OnePlus X.

The OnePlus X has a 5 inch Full HD AMOLED display which are usually better than the IPS LCDs. The Full HD display offers a high 443 PPI pixel density which makes reading experience much better. The screen even has a Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3 protection.

The smartphone runs on the Android Lollipop OS along with the Oxygen OS which brings some cool customizations like double tap to wake, gestures support. A shelf layout which brings up all your favorite apps as well as most dialed contacts on the screen.

You will be amazed at the intuitive features like the smart notifications, ambient wake up feature when you pull your smartphone out of pocket. Manage the App permissions to a granular level; you can enable the dark mode or choose an array of colors to match your mood and set the theme to your preference.

Should you Buy OnePlus X?

OnePlus X Should I buy it or not – Everything boils down to the question is the new Oneplus X great value for money does it offers best features to the buyers. It has some of the hits and some of the misses like any product.

OnePlus X comes in two variants Onyx and the Ceramic

But it does have good hardware, decent camera, adequate battery life and a great build and design. OnePlus has a proven record for commitment to quality, and we think for the price it is a good deal if you are looking for a 5.0-inch smartphone under Rs. 15,000 budget as of April 2016.

The OnePlus One is still selling, and you can even go for the OnePlus One which is almost similar to the X with a larger screen and a larger battery for virtually the same price. You will though miss on the 8 MP front camera of Oneplus X and 4G LTE support.
