Gionee P7, Gionee M7, Gionee M6, and M6 Plus – Specs, Price, India Launch Details
Gionee after the launch of Gionee P7 Max has today unveiled the Gionee P7 in the Indian market. The new phone comes with a smaller display and is priced at Rs. 9,999. The Rs. 8,000 to Rs. 10,000 is the hottest selling category for the 4G LTE and Volte smartphones in India.
Also, it will go on sale soon online as well as offline. It will be available in Gold, Grey and white colors.
For starters, it comes with Dual SIm support and also offers 4G LTE as well as VOLTE support. The smartphone comes with a Micro USB port and has standard Connectivity options like WIFI, Bluetooth, 3G, and 2G. Gionee also claims that the Gionee P7 also comes with CDMA network support apart from the GSM.
Design and Display
The Mobile comes with a 5.0-inch display with HD(1280*720) pixels resolution, there is a soda lime glass coating at the top to protect from scratches. The device offers 293 PPI and the IPS capacitive display is ideal for watching movies and playing games. The Gionee P7 comes with a shiny glass back cover which have a reflecting surface.
It is similar to the Gionee P7 Max or some of the recent Asus Smartphones like the Zenfone 3 in appearance. Moreover, the Glass body makes the device bit less durable and slippery, a mobile cover is highly recommended.
Notably, it comes with an unknown quad-core processor with 1.3 GHz clock speed. It is a bit absurd for companies to conceal the vital specs like processor while sharing information on the official website. In fact, Gionee used an old MT 6595 processor in the Gionee P7 Max (MT 6595 was launched way back in 2014).
Nevertheless, they may have used something new in P7 from MediaTek. Additionally, there is 2 GB RAM to run the phone smoothly.
Coming to the storage the P7 offers 16 GB of internal storage which is pretty standard, and there is an option to expand the storage to 128 GB using the micro –sd card.
OS & Features
The Gionee P7 runs on the Android Marshmallow 6.0 along with the Gionee custom skin Amigo 3.2. Gionee has improved a lot and has done a lot of custom development to include some Cool themes, special mood wallpapers, and an advanced app manager to ensure the smartphone has both style and functionality.
Furthermore, the Mobile comes with a mediocre 2300 mAH capacity battery which may not be sufficient to last all day for voracious users. It offers 259 Hrs (2G) / 258 Hrs (3G) / 188 Hrs (4G) / 258 Hrs (CDMA) as per the reported numbers by Gionee.
Notably, there is no fingerprint scanner which is a bit of a bummer for many young buyers looking for a quick unlocking feature. At Rs. 9,999, the Gionee P7 competes with the Redmi Note 3, Huawei Honor 5C, Le 1s, Lenovo K4 Note.
Gionee has recently launched the Gionee S9 with Dual rear camera smartphone in China and is also planning to launch the 7000 mAH battery capacity Gionee M2017 smartphone in the coming days.

Gionee M7 Power Launched in India With 5000 mAH Battery, SD 435
Gionee has launched the new long battery life mobile in India called “Gionee M7 Power”. The new Gionee M7 power will go on sale starting 25 November through online stores as well as offline retail channels.
Amazon India is the online partner for the brand and will start the pre-booking from 17th November 2017. The Gionee M7 Power will be available in three colors – blue, black, gold.
Gionee is also offering one-time screen replacement with the device for the first six months. Additionally, buyers can even get additional 10 GB data/month for 10 months, from JIO if they recharge with 309 or above.
Build and Display
Like most Gionee phones the M7 Power also comes with a premium build with metallic design. The rear surface is glossy and reflects light from different angles, something similar to the Huawei Honor 8.
The mobile is thick and measures 8.6 mm and also weighs 199 grams because of its large battery capacity.
The mobile comes with a large 6.00 Inch Univisium display and has HD + (1440*720) resolution. Also, the Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protects the display.
I would have liked Gionee to add at least a Full HD Display in this price range; an HD display is not what most buyers would like.
This is the first Gionee smartphone to come with a bezel-less display. The Gionee M7 was launched in China in September 2017 and now is brought to India.
The near Bezel-less display smartphones are a new rage, and all the smartphone makers are launching bezel-less display smartphones. Micromax recently launched the Micromax Canvas Infinity, LG launched the Q6, Vivo came up with the Vivo V7+.
With other hardware specs seeing a kind of saturation currently, we are seeing more and more bezel-less Full vision display phones even in the mid-range segment.
The Gionee M7 Power is the successor to the Gionee M6 or the M6 Plus which were launched last year with 5000 and 6000 mAH capacity battery. The Gionee M7 Power comes with a 5000 mAH battery and also comes with the Fast Charging support.
You can efficiently use the M7 Power for at least 1.5 to 2 days with a high amount of usage and still may not exhaust it.
The smartphone runs on the Android Nougat 7.1 and also has the Gionee Custom Amigo UI 5.1 on top of it. We recently reviewed the Gionee A1 (selfie phone) and found the Amigo UI to be very neat and clean and not as heavily modded as the MIUI or the Cool UI.
The mobile comes with the Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 processor clocked at 1.4 GHz and the Adreno 505 GPU. The Snapdragon 435 is used in many phones like Nokia 6 or the more affordable Redmi 4. The processor is not a real powerhouse, ideally, in this price range, a Snapdragon 625 or Snapdragon 630 is desired.
The M7 Power comes with 64 GB of internal storage space expandable up to 256 GB using the micro-sd card slot. The phone has got 4 GB of ram to ensure smooth multitasking.
The M7 Power comes with a 13 Megapixel camera with f/2.0 aperture along with LED Flash. At the front, the Gionee M7 sports an 8-megapixel resolution selfie camera which comes with f/2.2 aperture.
The Gionee M7 comes with Dual Sim 4G Volte support and also has a Fingerprint scanner at the back of the device.
Key Features Gionee M7 Power
- Great Battery Life – 5000 mAH capacity Battery with Fast Charging.
- Bezel-less Display with 6.0 Inch Screen.
- Lacks Dual Rear Camera.
- The display is only HD.
- Weak Processor.
Gionee has been struggling in the Indian market as a brand, and they need some excellent smartphones which can take on Xiaomi, Oppo, and Vivo to retain and expand their market share.
While Xiaomi has been very aggressive in pricing, Gionee is still offering phones with mediocre hardware at a high price, which is unlikely to help them improve the market position. Let’s see how the Gionee M7 Power does in this hyper-competitive mobile market.

Gionee has launched 2 new smartphones ( Gionee M6 and Gionee M6 Plus) with mammoth battery sizes and enhanced security features. The smartphones are launched in China and will go on sale starting August 6th, they are also expected to hit the Indian retail later in August’16.
Gionee M series or more commonly known as Marathon series offers some of the longest battery life smartphones.
Both the smartphones come with an inbuilt security chip which protects the users from malware attacks and will also secure IM communication from being decrypted easily. Gionee is touting the new phones as safest android smartphones in the world. Both Gionee phones have a dedicated security chip that offers 10 layers of protection for your personal data.
As per the current report, Sadly it’ll only be in the Chinese variants while the Global variants will not feature this chip and would sport only a fingerprint sensor as the security option. Android security is the new fad that many OEM’s are banking on to make it a USP for selling the device. Recently, Blackberry launched the DTEK50 and called it the most secured android phone.
The Gionee M6 and M6 Plus have similar design and also it seems they took some queues from Huawei. The front and the back of the phone somewhat resembles Huawei P9.
Despite having an enormous battery size the smartphones don’t look ballooned but maintain an elegant form factor. Most long battery life smartphones fail on aesthetics, but Gionee has done a decent job this time.
The smartphones look premium with a metallic build and 2.5 D curve glass on the front. The bottom grill is more iphonish while the oblong home button at the front has a fingerprint scanner embedded in it.
The M6 sports a 5.5-inch FHD AMOLED display with 2.5D glass on top and offers percent NTSC gamut similar to what Redmi Note Pro has to offer. On the front sits the accurate oblong shaped fingerprint sensor flanked in between the lollipop themed navigation buttons.
It runs on 64-bit 1.8 GHz MediaTek Helio P10 Octa-Core processor clubbed with 3 GB of RAM. It offers 2 variants 64Gb and 128Gb along with an option to add 128Gb more through micro sd cards. That’s a hell lot of storage one user would need. Surely checks the box for heavy users. Both the phones run on the latest Android iteration, Android M with Amigo 3.5 OS skin on top.
The phone features 13-megapixel rear camera with PDAF and LED flash and 8 MP front camera for great selfies. Below the rear camera lies the new Gionee smiley Logo.
The highlight of the phone is the huge 5000 mAh battery, Gionee claims it will last 6.4 hours of video playback, 55 hours of the continuous call, and 794 hours ( approx 33 days) of standby time. Also, the phone is backed by a fast charging technology which surprisingly will charge the huge battery in just 2 hrs. The smartphone also has reversible charging, if you wish to charge another device with it.
The phone’s design makes it look slim and premium even after packing such huge battery pack measuring at 152.3×75.3x 8.2mm and weighing at slightly heavy 180 grams. Not bad for a long battery life smartphone.
Gionee M6 Plus
The elder sibling shows off the same design and processor but gets a boost in other departments when compared to the M6.
The M6 Plus sports a huge 6-inch FHD AMOLED display with 2.5D curve glass. It features a 16 Megapixel rear camera and comes with outrageous 6020 mAH battery capacity.
The larger display and addition of more battery capacity makes the M6 Plus heavier but astonishingly it has the same thickness as M6 measuring at 160.5×80.6x 8.2 mm but weighs 215 gram. Let’s call it a phablet, it over qualifies for a smartphone. Xiaomi recently launched a 6.44 Inch Mi Max in India which is selling well.
The smartphone comes with standard connectivity options with 4G LTE, 3G, GPRS/EDGE, Wi-Fi, GPS/AGPS, Bluetooth, WLAN. Strangely the phone sports micro USB port but supports USB OTG as well.
The M6 will be available from August 6th while the bigger sibling M6 Plus will be available from August 13th in China. Both the smartphones will be available in Champagne Gold and Mocha Gold color variants.
The Gionee M6 Price
- CNY 2,699 (approx Rs. 27,200) for its 64 GB storage
- CNY 2,899 (approx Rs. 29,200) for the 128 GB storage
Gionee M6 Plus Price
- CNY 2,999 (approx Rs. 30,200) for its 64 GB storage
- CNY 3,199 (approx Rs. 32,200) for its 128 GB storage
Gionee never price their offering cheaply and the new M6 is no exception, however, the smartphones offer better security, great build quality, and enormous battery life for the price.
It’ll directly face competition with the new released Honor 8 in Chinese market along with the flagship OnePlus 3 and Lenovo’s Zuk Z2 Pro. We await the India launch and will update as they land.
