The Spider-man edition and the Naoto Fukasawa Edition will go on sale in 2019.
Frankly, I am not liking the launch of new phones which are made for China, with odd naming and design.
Probably, these will not work in India. Also, considering that there is no 6 GB Ram version, this is a bummer from Realme. A lot of fans would have loved a 6 GB Ram and 64 GB storage and 6 GB Ram/ 128 GB storage option than the options provided.
Moreover, buying an 8 GB Ram phone with an SD 710 is pure stupidity. It is a mid-range processor and additional ram is not going to help. A 6 GB ram variant would have been ideal.
Nevertheless, let’s have a look at the specifications and features for the Realme X.
Realme X Key Specifications
The Realme X comes with loaded specs, and as you read above with very affordable pricing. The phone boasts of a 6.53 inch Super AMOLED Full HD+ Display (2340*1080).
Further, it has an impressive 91.2% screen to body ratio and has 19.5:9 aspect ratio, with Corning Gorilla Glass 5.
Also, there is an in-display fingerprint scanner similar to the recently launched Oneplus 7.
The Dual sim device runs on the Color OS 6.0 and has the Android Pie update.
Powering the device is the 10 Nm Octa-Core Snapdragon 710 processor and the Adreno 616 GPU.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 is slower when compared to the Kirin 810 (Honor 9X) or even the Snapdragon 730 on both Antutu as well as GeekBenchmark.
The processor is similar to the Realme 3 Pro which was launched in India and is capable of playing PUBG and Fortnite.
The phone comes with a 48 Megapixel primary rear camera (Sony IMX586 sensor) with f/1.7 aperture and has a secondary sensor with 5 MP resolution with f/2.4 aperture.
For selfies, we have a POP-Up camera with a 16 Megapixel lens and a Sony IMX 471 sensors with f/2.0 aperture.
Additionally, it comes with all-day battery life (3765 mAH capacity battery) with support for Oppo’s VOOC 3.0 fast charging.
Further, there is USB Type C Port, headphone jack, Dolby Atmos support, 4G VOLTE and Bluetooth 5.0.
The phone is a bit bulky and has a 9.4mm thickness and has 191-grams weight.
The Realme X is an affordable Oneplus 7 Pro as there are a lot of similarities between the two. The sensors on both the primary rear camera and the front camera are the same.
However, there are some differences in the lenses used by Oneplus and Realme. Further, both come with the in-display scanner and even has the pop-up selfie mechanism.
The display is also Super AMOLED on the Realme X which is fairly impressive for the price range.
We already have the Realme 3 Pro and the Realme X will sit above the 3 Pro in the portfolio.
Hardware-wise it is a great phone the only low point is the Color OS which a lot of people despise.
The new Realme X comes with the superior camera setup, better full view AMOLED display making it a better device than both the Redmi Note 7 Pro as well as the Realme 3 Pro.
Pros – Realme X
- 6.53 inch Full View (no-notch) Super AMOLED Display With Gorilla Glass 5.
- In-Display Fingerprint Scanner
- Superior Dual Rear Cameras Sony IMX 586
- 16 MP Pop-up Selfie Camera
- Latest OS and Software
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 Octa-Core
Cons – Realme X
If we consider the Realme X in isolation, it is a great phone and the price is also very aggressive. But considering phones like the Redmi K20 (SD 730) or even the Vivo Z1 Pro (SD 712), the processor is slower.
A lot of fans were expecting it to come with the Snapdragon 730 instead of SD 710.
The second issue is probably the onion/garlic design – oh… Dear Realme … this is not going to work in India. People in China are different from Indians. I would have liked a more colorful dual-tone design like the Huawei P20 Pro.
Thirdly, why there is no 6 GB ram version, this processor is made to work best with either 4 or 6 GB ram. There was no need for an 8 GB Ram version.
Lastly, I forgot to mention that it comes with a hybrid-sim slot instead of a dedicated micro-sd sim card slot, a deal-breaker for some fans.
Overall – Buying Advice
The Realme X looks good and is certainly a great product to purchase. There are two good phones coming from Xiaomi (Mi A3 and the Redmi K20) that I would like to wait and see before buying the Realme X.
