Reliance JIO is coming and telecom and mobile industry are preparing for the bloodbath. The price war will leave many small players wounded or even dead.
Recently, I went on a telecom retailer visit. Where I found out that the retailers are very pleased with the unlimited data and voice offers.
Also, Reliance is working to build a robust network at least in the major metro areas to offer incredibly fast 4G LTE network.
Price Cut for LYF Phones Comes ahead of Full Launch
In order to boost their business and to support the 4G LTE data growth, Reliance JIO has slashed the prices of its Lyf smartphones by up to 25%. Moreover, Reliance is gearing up for a possible launch in November 2016 or December’16.
The new price for Lyf Flame 4, Flame 5, and Flame 6 will now be Rs 2,999, which is Rs 1,000 less than the original price.
The Flame 2 is now available just for Rs. 3,499, a discount of Rs 1,300 on the original price.
Furthermore, the Lyf Wind 6 now costs Rs 5,999 with Rs 500 discount. Also, the Lyf Water 2’s new price is Rs. 9,499 with Rs 4,000 discounts on the original price.
All mobiles come with 4G VOLTE support to enable the users to call using data network.
Reliance has reduced the price for the Following smartphones :
|LYF Smartphone||Old Price (Rs.)||New Price (Rs.)|
|Lyf Flame 2||4800||3499|
|Lyf Flame 4||3999||2999|
|Lyf Flame 5||3999||2999|
|Lyf Flame 6||3999||2999|
Reliance JIO is also offering unlimited data as well as the voice for 3 months with the purchase of any new 4G smartphone. Considering unlimited data and voice plans the smartphone with a price tag of Rs. 2,999 is a great deal.

Reliance JIO offers Unlimited 4G LTE Data for 3 Months
Some days back, dwindling Reliance communications’ CDMA business has offered customers in Mumbai, Delhi, Maharashtra and AP circles to use the RJIO’s 4G LTE network that is a lifeline for the RCOM business.
Reliance communication has lost market share to Airtel, Vodafone, and Idea in the last couple of years and its subscriber base has also shrunk. In nutshell, the RCOM business is not doing too well for the last couple of years.
Additionally, the CDMA technology is not preferred by Telecoms globally. And all other Indian operators are utilizing the more efficient GSM network technology.
It is a silver lining for the Anil Ambani led Reliance Communication and a positive move by the elder brother Mukesh Ambani. Jio and RCOMs will have synergy to use share and use infrastructure, to fight other major telecom operators.
RJIo’s launch has been delayed due to many reasons. One of the major reason according to Industry sources is the network rollout and the billing and charging system that the company is getting ready for the full commercial launch.
Lastly, RJIO’s 4G will be rolled out in 12 circles — Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Punjab, UP East and West, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, and Bihar.
New Samsung Launches Galaxy J7 Duo (2018) and Galaxy J2 (2018) Offers Massive JIO Discounts
Samsung is planning to take on Xiaomi and other Chinese brands to gain back some market share in the second half of 2018, probably with the help from Reliance JIO.
The first half of this year has been a whitewash for the brand as it lost the market leadership to Xiaomi which now enjoys 30% market share in comparison to the 22% market share of the South Korean Tech Moghul.
Coming to the latest phone launches by Samsung, they recently launched the Samsung Galaxy J6 and J8 along with the more premium Galaxy A6 and A6+.
Now the brand is focusing more on the Sub 10k-15k price range with the introduction of two new phones – Galaxy J2 and Galaxy J7 Duo.
Reliance JIO Offer Details
Moreover, Reliance JIO has announced double offers for JIO subscribers who plan to buy the new Samsung phones. As part of the offer, JIO subscribers will get an instant cashback of Rs. 2750(which they can use in 55 further recharges with using the benefit of Rs. 50 each time).
The second Jio offer is a double data offer for the Samsung Galaxy J2 buyers who will get 100 GB additional 4G Data (10 vouchers for 10 GB each) when they recharge with the Rs. 198 or 298 plan.
Also, the J7 Duo users can get double data for a maximum of four recharges and it is applicable only on the recharge of Rs. 198 or above. A bit confusing offers from JIO though you can comment at the end of the article if you need any help in further understanding these.
Let’s Go ahead and check out what Samsung is offering to the budget phone buyers.

Samsung Galaxy J7 Duo:
Samsung Galaxy J7 Duo was initially launched by Samsung in March. It is a dual-sim phone and features a capacitive touchscreen screen measuring 5.5 inches, and has an HD resolution (1280 x 720) with 267 PPI. However, it comes with a 16:9 aspect ratio display that is becoming obsolete these days.

So far the LYF brand phones are more of a commodity product launch, essential to get the JIO 4G preview bundle. With the new LYF, F1 JIO is attempting to change this. They have added tons of new features to the LYF F1 and a more closer integration to the JIO Apps ecosystem.

The Snapdragon 652 is a big deal, as it offers great gaming performance and multi-tasking ability. Though the network speed and call quality on the JIO network varies from state to state. And even within the same state, there can be pockets with good connectivity and areas where it is pathetic.
