Details and Specs – Asus ROG Phone 3
Design and Display
The Asus Rog Phone 3 comes with a design that is too familiar now, same as the Rog Phone 2.
There is a slight change to the camera placement at the back and the phones come with a charging port at the side instead of the bottom to keep the cables out of the way when you are gaming.
The phone has a metallic frame and the back cover is polycarbonate with an incredibly attractive ROG RGB logo at the back. Also, the company has launched two new cases that look awesome.
It comes with a 6.59 inch Full HD+ (1,080×2,340 pixels) OLED display. It is an HDR color-calibrated display and comes with 1 ms response time that can give gamers an edge in fast-paced shooting games like PUBG, COD Mobile, and Fortnite. The display offers 650 nits HBM brightness & 1000 nits peak brightness, 113% DCI-P3 color gamut.
Additionally, it has Corning Gorilla Glass 6 coating for protection from wear and tear.
Powering the phone is the cutting edge, top of the line 7 Nm, Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+ Processor, and the Adreno 650 GPU.
Notably, the SD 865+ is an Octa-Core processor with a maximum clock speed of 3.1 GHz. The phone has got a GameCool 3 heat-dissipating system with a new innovative copper 3D vapor chamber and a larger graphite film that ensures effective heat dissipation and keeps the phone cooler during gaming.
It also comes with the WIFI 6E connectivity and also has 5G and Bluetooth 5.2 support.
It is really a beast and scores over 600,000 on the Antutu benchmark offering almost 30% increase in the performance of the Snapdragon 855+ used in many phones like Rog Phone 2.
Furthermore, the mobile comes with up to 16 GB Ram LPDDR5 Ram and has 128/256/512 GB UFS 3.1 storage which is faster than the traditional UFS 2.1 storage that we get in most mobiles.
Additionally, it is compatible with Google Stadio to play games online. Also, the company states that they have improved the ultrasonic AirTrigger (pressure-sensitive touch sensors) that you can use in games to get an advantage over rivals.
Another highlight feature for the new Zenfone is that it comes with the Android Oreo 10.0 Os with ROG skin experience.
The Rog Phone 3 comes with triple rear cameras. It has a 64 MP Megapixel primary rear camera (Sony IMX 686 sensor) to click detailed selfies. Also, the secondary camera is a 13 MP ultra-wide lens that can click decent wide-angle shots. The third lens is a 5 MP Macro lens. You can record 8K/4K videos using the rear cameras.
The rear cameras are upgraded in comparison to the Rog Phone II which came with dual rear cameras (48 MP + 13 MP).
The front selfie camera has a 24 MP lens and offers f/2.0 aperture.
The key highlight of the ROG Phone 3 is the 6000 mAH capacity battery with reverse charging and fast charging support. Notably, the phone can work for 2 days with ease and can even charge your other phones when needed.
It comes with the standard connectivity options such as the 4G VOLTE, 5G support, WIFI 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, and Dual Sim. Also, there are 3.5 mm headphone jack and USB Type C Port for music and charging.
Also, the phone comes with an in-display scanner for quick unlock.
Notably, the mobile comes with an impressive sound output with Dual 7-magnet stereo speaker with dual NXP TFA9874 smart amplifier and even has the ROG GameFX and Dirac HD Sound. I have used the Rog Phone II extensively and it has one of the best speaker outputs.
Lastly, it is a bit bulky due to the massive battery – measures 9.85 mm in thickness and weighs 240 grams. For a few initial days I found it odd to use the heavy Rog Phone II but it grows on you as you get more used to it.
