Samsung Galaxy A8 is Sleek and Powerful
Samsung has launched the successor to the A7, the new Samsung Galaxy A8. The mobile is available for Rs. 32,000 in the Indian market and will go on sale this week. The A8 may look bit expensive considering its specs.
Moreover, you can purchase the Samsung Galaxy A8 from major e-retailers like Amazon.
If we try to look beyond specs, Samsung A8 has many positives. For starters, the design is gorgeous with metallic chrome edge and contours that will make other smartphones envious. It reminiscence the famous Galaxy S6 and the Samsung Galaxy A7(priced at Rs. 26,000).
Notably, It is the thinnest smartphone, Samsung has ever made. The A8 measures 5.9 mm in thickness and weighs 150 grams. Additionally, it has a unibody design with very thin bezels.
To that end, Samsung is not doing a thinner smartphone competition with Oppo or Gionee S5.1 who had smartphones as thin as 5.0 mm. They can bend and break easily, being so thin.
In fact, the thinness is not at the cost of poor battery capacity the smartphone has a 3050 mAH battery which is ideal for the device. Also, it is available in Black, Golden and White colors.
Finger Print Scanner
Samsung has extended the S6 fingerprint scanner capability to the Al. It offers a fingerprint scanner at the front embedded in the physical touch button.
For photography, there is a high-quality Autofocus, Dual Led Flash – 16 MP primary camera that has a F/1.9 aperture.
More so, the camera looks similar to the one we have seen on Galaxy S6. It offers fast focus and easy launch ability by double tapping the home button twice.
Additionally, the front camera is also good with 5 MP lens. It offers great camera quality for selfie bug bitten social media posters.
Performance and Storage
Next, the Samsung Galaxy A8 runs on the Octa-Core Exynos 5430 processor. The processor has four cores clocked at 1.8 GHz, and other four cores clocked at 1.8 GHz. The SOC is highly energy efficient and can extend the battery life further Vs the Chinese version of A8 which runs on Snapdragon 615.
Moreover, it is coupled with 2 GB of RAM in the Indian version and has a storage of 32 GB which is adequate to run multiple Apps without any lag.
Also, the storage can be further extended using the micro Sd card in the second sim slot and can extend to 128 GB.
Connectivity & OS
Further, the Samsung A8 has 2 SIM slots and support dual standby. The mobile supports 4G LTE, 3G, and 2G connectivity. Also, it supports Band 40 (2300MHz) and Band 3 (1800MHz) that are essential for India.
Furthermore, it runs on the Android Lollipop 5.1.1 OS and the Samsung touch wiz UI. In fact, the touch wiz UI has gone through many changes and is very fluid.
There is gorgeous 5.5-inch display with Super AMOLED technology. The colors are more vivid and make the screen look livelier. Besides, the super AMOLED screen is more costly compared to the IPS LCD.
The display features sensitive touch capacitive touchscreen supporting wide viewing angles. Notably, the display is FHD with 1920*1080 resolution with 388 PPI. It is great for watching videos as well as reading.
Lastly, the battery capacity for the Samsung Galaxy A8 is significantly better compared to the earlier Samsung S6 which had 2600 mAH battery.
In fact, the battery life is 15% more compared to the Galaxy S6. Despite offering a very thin profile the phone has an enormous battery. Incredible work dear Samsung.
In conclusion, the A8 with its price of Rs. 32,000 is not meant for value buyers as there are many better options available in the market.
In spite of immaculate design, attentional to details and premium looks, it will appeal to only a small niche of buyers. Normal buyers are happy with the One Plus 2 or Mi 4 that offers good design and specs without an eye-popping price .
If you are considering the Samsung Galaxy A8, I would suggest wait couple of days you may be able to buy it below 30K.
