Samsung has launched a new smartphone Samsung Galaxy A8(2016) in Korea and some other Asian countries. The smartphone appeared in some leaks earlier though some of the details were not available.
Samsung Galaxy A8(2016) comes with a gorgeous metallic uni-body frame and the build looks quite immaculate and very similar to the earlier released Samsung C5 and C7.
The smartphone is sleek and measures just 7.2 mm in thickness though it comes with a large 5.7 inch screen size similar to the ill fated Samsung Note 7.
The design is inspired from iPhone 6s from the back side with similar metallic contours and antenna lines. Though the front side is signature Samsung looks with the oblong shaped home button which comes with a fingerprint scanner.
Samsung Galaxy A8 will first go on sale through SK Telecom (SunKyoung telecom). SK Telecom is South Korean wireless telecommunications operator and is considered greatest business group in South Korea.
Samsung A8 has similarities to the Samsung S6, for start it share the same processor – Samsung Exynos 7420.
Samsung A8 utilizes the cutting edge 14nm Samsung manufactured Exynos 7420 Octa-Core processor clocked at 2.1 GHz consisting of 4 cortex A57 cores and 4 Cortex A53 cores. The processor is accompanied by Mali T760MP8 GPU to ensure great gaming performance.
Though the Exynos 7420 is a generation old but it offers better performance compared to the Snapdragon 810 or Snapdragon 650 processors.
The Samsung Galaxy A8(2016) comes with 3 GB of ram to ensure fluid performance.
The phone runs on Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 out of the box along with the Grace UX which debuted with the Samsung Note 7.
The A8 has an gargantuan 5.7 inch Full HD (1920*1080 ~ 386 PPI) Super Amoled display.
The 74.5 % body to screen ratio ensures the bezels are thin and a Corning gorilla glass 4 protection helps sustain occasional drops. There is 2.5D curve glass on top of the A8 screen which improves the touch experience and aesthetics.
The phone has a 32 GB of internal memory that is expandable up to 256 GB using a micro-sd card.
The phone is powered by 3300 mAh Non-removable battery, a major improvement over the S6 smaller 2650 mAH battery. The battery could last a day with normal usage however it is a bit smaller compared to the Samsung Note 7 battery (and certainly non-explosive too).
As per colors available it’s currently available In Blue, Grey, Pink (the classic black and white seems to be absent).
The A8 has 16 MP primary camera (similar to the Samsung S6) with f/1.9 aperture and a dual led flash, 1080p video recording. Egregiously Samsung has not added support for 4K video recording.
The phone has an 8 MP secondary camera which supports wide selfie feature. The Samsung A8 is bulky as most 5.7 inch smartphones are and it weighs around 170 grams.
Samsung A8 in India There is no confirmation yet about the Samsung A8 India launch but it is currently available only in Korea at a price tag of 649,000 won(South Korean currency) approx Rs. 39,000.
