Samsung E5 and E7 Launch, Android Update and Price
Samsung launched two new smartphones for the upper mid-range buyers, the Galaxy E5 and Galaxy E7 along with the Samsung Galaxy A5 and A3. The company has stated that all the 4 models will get Android Lollipop update.
Android Lollipop Update
Update – 10/October/2015: Finally Samsung has become generous and has started rolling out the Android Lollipop update on the Samsung Galaxy E5 version. However, the company has not shared any plans to upgrade the Galaxy E7. The Android Lollipop update on the Samsung Galaxy E7 may also start rolling out soon. The Android Lollipop 5.1 update is 744 MB and needs at least 3 GB of free memory space to install.
After the install, the Android Lollipop update on the device takes 950 MB of space.
Price and Availability
The Samsung Galaxy E7 is priced at Rs. 23,400 and the Galaxy E5 is priced at Rs. 19, 700. You can buy both the phones either online or from a physical retail store.

For starters, it has a 5.5 inch Super AMOLED Display. The Samsung E5 and E7 have a metallic ring around the body edge, the back plate is conventional plastic and has more similarity with the older generation Samsung Galaxy devices.
Also, the E7 has a Dual Micro Hybrid Sim which allows you to insert a micro SD card in the second Sim slot.
For imaging, there is a 13 MP Rear Camera and a 5 MP front Camera for taking Selfies.
Samsung is also adapting to Selfie obsession among buyers like HTC, which launched the 13 MP Front Camera HTC Desire Eye recently.
Notably, the E7 has Snapdragon 410 (Quad-Core Processor) with a clock speed of 1.2 GHz, 2 GB RAM. Additionally, there is 16 GB internal Storage expandable up to 64 GB using a micro SD card.
The key highlight, it the good battery life, it comes with a 2950 mah capacity battery. Further, there is an ultra-battery saver mode to help increase the battery life.
Furthermore, the Android KitKat is moded with the signature Touch Wiz UI which Samsung loads on all devices.
The company has stated that the smartphones are likely to get the Android Lollipop update soon.
There is a lot craze among youth for the Android Lollipop update and social media forums are flooded with requests from buyers to get the OS update from different brands.
Notably, the Google Nexus and Moto series are lucky to get the update early.
Further, it has a 7.3 mm thickness which is adequate in comparison to some of the competition phones which have 9 mm or more thickness.

These are ideal for mid-range buyers who are looking for phones in the range of Rs. 20,000. Both E5 and E7 are essentially same in terms of hardware barring the rear camera and additional RAM in the E7.
The specs are not very impressive for the price and even there is nothing new in the design or user interface.
If Samsung would have launched them with the Android Lollipop update, they could have become winning horses for Korean conglomerate.
