Samsung has introduced two budget smartphones Galaxy On5 and Galaxy On7, followed by the listing of the smartphones on the company’s official website. We spotted the smartphones are listed on the official Indian website for Samsung couple of days back.
The smartphones are now launched on Flipkart and sale for both the models have started. The Samsung Galaxy On5 is priced at Rs. 8,990 while the Samsung Galaxy On7 is priced at Rs. 10,990.
Both the smartphones comes with low to mid-range specs and features and shares similar hardware specifications with minor changes in camera and screen size. Samsung has few more smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime and the Samsung Galaxy J5 in this range in the Indian market.
Samsung is bringing back the Faux leather back cover design with these mid range mobiles which earlier used to accompany high end Note series. The design looks similar to the Samsung Galaxy J5 and Samsung Galaxy J7 for these new devices. Samsung however has discontinued the signature leather back cover design in it’s premium Samsung Galaxy Note 5.
Samsung Galaxy On5 (SM-G550FY)
The Samsung Galaxy On5 code named as (SM-G550FY) is the lower specs variant of the two, as the name suggests. The smartphone has a 5 inch screen with an HD (1280*720 resolution) TFT display.
The mobile is powered by Samsung’s own Quad-core Exynos 3475 processor clocked at 1.3 Ghz. The processor is coupled with the Mali-T720 GPU for all your gaming needs.
Samsung has bundled the new mobile with 1.5 GB of RAM. It would not have hurt them adding another 0.5 GB of Ram considering that we have smartphone below s. 7,000 coming with 2 GB of RAM.
For storage the phone includes a micro SD slot and an in-built storage space of 8 GB which provides access of 4 GB to the user. The storage is expandable upto 128 GBB using the micro SD card. T
he main rear camera has an 8 Megapixels lens which comes with Auto-focus and led flash support
The front camera is a 5 Megapixel shooter to cater to selfie needs.
The device runs on Android Lollipop 5.1 and has the native Samsung’s touch wiz UI.
The smartphone includes other essential features like dual-sim, 4G connectivity, along with the support for native 3G/ 2G and WIFI
The smartphone is powered by a 2600 mAh battery capacity which seems decent considering the smartphone specs and 5.0 inch screen size. The smartphones weighs 149 grams and has a thickness of 8.5 mm.
The smartphone will be available in Black and Gold color. The mobile is priced at Rs. 8,999. Samsung has got aggressive in pricing and this is the cheapest 4G LTE smartphone from Samsung in the Indian market.
The Samsung On5 competes with lots of Chinese smartphones in this range like the Xiaomi Redmi 2 Prime, Coolpad Note 3 , Huawei Honor 4C which also offer some nifty specs for the price.
Samsung Galaxy On7
The Samsung Galaxy On7 comes with slightly better processing capabilities compared to the Samsung Galaxy On5. The On7 comes with a slightly big screen size and improved camera and a larger battery.
The Samsung Galaxy On7 comes with TFT display with HD resolution (1280*720). The pixel density on the Samsung Galaxy On7 is 267 PPI vs the 288 PPI on the Samsung Galaxy On5.
The screen measures 5.5 inches so, bit lesser Ppi than the O5.
The phone comes with a 13 Megapixel primary camera with auto-focus and led flash support. The front camera remains the same with a 5 megapixel lens for clicking selfies. Like the Samsung On5 the Samsung Galaxy On7 also is a Dual Sim 4G (LTE + LTE) mobile.
The Samsung Galaxy On7 is powered by the Quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor clocked at 1.2 GHz. The storage space is 8 G which can be expanded using a micro-sd card and it also comes with 1.5 GB of Ram like the On5.
The phone packs a larger 3000 mAh battery which offers more talk-time and standby than the Galaxy O5. The Samsung Galaxy On7 has a thickness of 8.2 mm and it weighs around 171 grams a bit heavy compared to some counter parts with 5.5 inch screen.
The Samsung Galaxy On 7 is currently available in Gold and Black color priced at Rs. 10,990. The Samsung Galaxy On7 competes with Micromax Yureka Plus , Lenovo K3 Note, Lava Pixel V1 , Xolo Black and the Motorola Moto G3 in this price range.
