Upcoming Samsung Galaxy S30 Series – All Details
Every year, Samsung is expected to launch the new Galaxy S30 series in late Feb or early March this year.
As we are approaching towards the end of 2020, our expectation remains high for releasing new Samsung flagships in early 2021. This year we may see a little delay in launching new flagship phones from Samsung due to the pandemic.
One of the most exciting things about the launch of Samsung flagship devices is the launch of the latest Qualcomm processors. Samsung S30 series will be the first to get the 2021 Qualcomm Flagship processors, and we may also see some cool camera tech and better AMOLED panels from the company.
Samsung is the world leader when it comes to manufacturing display panels, and every year they get something new and exciting for the fans.
The Samsung S20 series this year was disappointing in many parts of the world due to the presence of Exynos 990. The 990 is much slower and runs hot compared to the SD 865 used in the S20 series launched in the US.
This year we expect to see a better chipset from the company that can rival or is slightly better than Qualcomm Snapdragon 875.
Models and Design:
Samsung is likely to launch three new phones this year: The Samsung Galaxy S30, Galaxy S30 Plus, and the Galaxy S30 Ultra.
Samsung made a major change to the design last year, so this year, the company may not change it and launch phones with a similar rectangular rear camera assembly and a punch-hole display.
Several other manufacturers have copied the design and look similar to the S20 series. Ahem .. Ahem … OnePlus 8T.
Specification for Samsung Galaxy S30 Series:
There are various rumors on the S30 series specifications, but one feature that we are sure about is the processor.
Due to Samsung’s sheer volume and scale, Qualcomm’s top of the line processor always features in the Samsung Flagship, way ahead of rivals. This gives Samsung an edge over other Android players by being first to the market.
The S30 series will come with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 875 Octa-Core processor or the new in-house Samsung Exynos 1000.
Here are some Benchmarks For the Exynos 1000 and Snapdragon 875:
- Geekbench Single-Core Score – 1302.
- Geekbench Multi-Core Score – 4250.
- Geekbench Single-Core Score – 1160.
- Geekbench Multi-Core Score – 4090.
As these early Geekbench scores showcase the Exynos 1000 has much better single-core performance than the SD 875 and has slightly better results in the multi-core performance. We will have to see how is the new GPU on both the devices to have a better picture.
Take these with a pinch of salt as these are not the final scores but an indication.
More Specs and Details
Furthermore, the Samsung S30 will come with up to 12 GB LPDDR5 RAM, with storage space up to 1 TB, a Super AMOLED 120Hz refresh rate display panel, with Quad-HD resolution.
There were some rumors pointing to in-display selfie camera in the S30 series, but lately, other reports are suggesting that the new flagship will miss the feature. Notably, The ZTE Axon 20 is the first phone to feature the tech but according to the reports the S30 will miss it due to either higher production costs or lower yields.
The rumors about the battery claim that the S30 will come with a 4000 mAh, S30 Plus with a 4800 mAh, and S30 Ultra will pack a 5000 mAh battery with up to 65W charging support.
Let’s believe it to be authentic!
The recent rumors for the S30-series phone are about the camera setup.
According to leaks, the S30 series will adhere to a 108 MP main primary camera, same as S20 Ultra, but with an improved image sensor. It will have a 12 MP ultra-wide lens and may have a massive 40 MP selfie camera with the absence of a ToF (Time of Flight) sensor.
Some of the early rumors suggested that Samsung is working on a 150 MP camera and 64 MP telephoto,16 MP ultra-wide, 12 MP macro, and a depth sensor, but it is unlikely true. Too many Megapixels !! Isn’t it?
Price and availability:
The S30 series will probably be as expensive as the Galaxy S20 series. The starting base price for the phone is expected to be around $999 or close to Rs. 70,000 in India.
