The Samsung Galaxy S7 was rumored to come in different variants based on processor and screen size.
Is it going to be revolutionary – will it be a significant upgrade from S6 – answer lies in the fact what Samsung can do different.
One variant will come with the mighty Snapdragon 820 processor, and the other will include Samsung’s own Exynos M1.
Exynos M1 is a new processor and it will be the premium variant of S7.
Samsung used its own Mongoose cores instead of using the regular Cortex architecture, the processor is spotted on Geekbench, and the test reveals a clock speed of 2.3 GHz and scored 6900 points in multi-core test. The scores look impressive and it can be the worlds fastest processor when released. Samsung S7 will come with the faster next generation Ram – 4 GB LPPDR4.
Currently the Samsung Exynos 7420 shipped with Samsung S6 is world’s fastest mobile processor, ahead of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810.
Samsung has already made a decision to use its own processor in upcoming flagship phones.
If it doesn’t gets satisfactory results from Qualcomm’s processor, also the overheating problem with Snapdragon 810 has forced Samsung to use Exynos in its latest S series phones.
What is new You can expect in the Samsung Galaxy S7?
Samsung’s patent for 3D touch have been published now and this feature is likely to be added to the Galaxy S7, Apple has already incorporated similar feature named “Force touch” in its Apple watch and its latest iPhone 6s and 6s plus.
But Samsung had gone a bit further by adding multiple levels of pressure sensing so as to determine exactly how much pressure is applied to the screen, extending the functionality of the new feature.
USB type-C port
It’s no wonder that Samsung added USB Type –C to the S7, since many smartphone makers like Hauwei, Xiaomi were preferring to Add Type-C instead of USB 3.1 to their High-end devices.
The Type-C USB port offers faster data transfer rates of 10GB/s which goes well with Samsung’s New processor and will improve user experience.
Some rumors claims that the S7 will comes in two different displays, one with standard flat display and other with a Dual-curved display with a display resolution of 1440*2560 pixels.
One of the models will have 5.2 inch screen while the other will have 5.7 inch screen.
Samsung is working on its own toughened screen named as Turtle Glass.
That might be an alternative to Corning’s Gorilla Glass. Its not confirmed that Samsung will use this new display protection in the Galaxy S7 or not.
Since the design for the new smartphone was finalized a month before, the S7 is certainly expected to be released in Q1 of 2016, as Samsung is in rush to accelerate its sales and to compete with Apple’s recently launched Iphone 6s. A recent report from CNET states that Samsung may likely push the launch date to January 2016.
