Samsung Launches Grand Prime Mid Range 4G Mobile

Samsung Grand Prime – Mid Range Phone makes a Debut

Expanding its portfolio South Korean phone makers Samsung on Monday has launched it’s new mid-range phone “Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime” 4G in India.

As per the latest survey, Samsung is losing the market share because of the tough competition from the rival phone companies.

To gain some market share Samsung has put an aggressive price tag of Rs 11,100 for the new 4G LTE Grand prime. At this price, the smartphone competes with the Motorola Moto G 3rd Gen.

Samsung smartphone market share has come down from 28% to about 21.5%. The Indian and Chinese brands have eaten into Samsung’s market share.

In a bid to be a market leader in the Indian market that registered a sequential growth of about 30%, and taking the fight to the next level, Samsung has unveiled new models Samsung Galaxy J5 and J7 earlier.

But Samsung still lacks the pricing aggression which is necessary to dominate the Indian market which has made Xiaomi a much larger player.

The presence of Samsung in Sub 10k segment is poor and none of Samsung devices are top selling in that price range. However, now Samsung is eyeing the 10K to 30K market, along with the fight at Flagship level. Samsung also launched the thin profile, gorgeous looking Samsung Galaxy A8 yesterday.

This model is an extension of its 3G variant of Galaxy prime that was released in October 2014 with an added feature of supporting 4G LTE connectivity.

Moreover, the Galaxy Grand Prime 3G and 4G variant have most of the features and design elements pretty similar. The mobile also supports 3G and 2G connectivity. It has a dual SIM slot and dual SIM Standby.

Secondary memory is expandable up to 64 GB via micro-SD card. Galaxy Grand Prime 4G come fitted with 8 MP of rear camera supported by LED flash. It also features a 5 MP 85-degree wide angle lens front camera, which is a perfect tool for selfie images. The screen is 5-inch qHD display offering a 960x540p resolution with TFT panel. TFT panels are cheaper in comparison to the IPS or the AMOLED screens that Samsung uses in the high-end mobiles.

The smartphone features a battery capacity of 2600 mAh which can support long talk time. The good thing is the battery is that it is a removable one. The phone is not too heavy and is available in multi-color variants such as White, Grey, and Gold.

The mobile weighs 156 grams and has a thickness of 8.6 mm which is okay considering the size.

The company claims it to be a mid-budget phone made to provide unparalleled mobile experience at a very reasonable price. Overall for the specs and the build quality pricing is not exorbitant but yes it can not be put into low priced, high-performance category.

But again you get the brand name as well when you are paying a little extra.
