As per the latest leaks Samsung may release the new Samsung Note this year a little early, the reports suggests Samsung May launch it in July 2016 or in early August.
Samsung current Note 5 is not as powerful when compared to the recently released Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge and Samsung may see a sharp decline in the current Note 5 sales in next couple of months.
The new Samsung S7 and S7 Edge have a faster Snapdragon 820 / Exynos 8890 processor when compared to the Exynos 7420 used in the Samsung Note 5. The performance difference is huge and buyers would not like to buy the older Note 5 which does not have an expandable storage and waterproofing.
Some New Leaks about the Upcoming Samsung Note 6 got out today:
The Samsung Note 6 has got spotted in the GFX benchmark and we got a lot of details about the upcoming Note 6.
Some of the Specs details which got confirmed are as follows:
- Model – SM- 930F
- Display Size – 5.8 inches
- Resolution – 2560*1440 Quad HD with 480 PPI
- Processor – Exynos 8890 Octa-Core SOC
- Total RAM- 6 GB
- Internal Storage – 32 GB
Earlier leaks allege a 3800 mAH battery capacity and also a IP68 rating with water and dustproofing.
Samsung has also cut the price for the Samsung Note 5 in India and is now available for Rs. 43,000. The Samsung S7 which seems to be a much better deal is available for Rs. 47,000 with 2K discount on most major stores in Mumbai. The Note 5 misses on Dual Sim support as well as the better autofocus camera on the Samsung S7 which is capable of clicking best images in especially low-light and indoor conditions.
Considering all the above , Samsung would like to bring the Samsung Note 6, early this time around and we are expecting it as early as July end or early August 16.
Samsung is bound to use the Snapdragon 820 and Exynos 8890 in the Samsung Note 6 as new flagship processors may come after October 2016 and will be used in the Samsung S8 and S8 Edge next year. There is no point for Samsung to wait before refreshing the Note 6 mobile which this year is reported to be 5.8 inches Vs the 5.7 inches on the current Samsung Note 5.
Samsung may consider bringing the 3D touch display similar to something we have seen on the iPhone 6s and the Huawei Mate S. It is also rumored that the Samsung Note 6 will run on the Android N (Nutella or whatever Google calls it) out of the box. Seems a bit optimistic to me though Samsung will have to take some bold steps and even more support from Google to beat Apple in it’s locked iOS game.
There will be no Note Edge which Samsung stopped after launching the Note Edge once and realized there is no need for another Note edge device. Even if Samsung Plans a Note Edge this year with 5.8 inch display it will be quite similar to the Samsung S7 Edge and may not offer much different benefit to the buyers.
Touch Wiz can be vastly improved with Android N.
It will be interesting to see Samsung bring back the micro-sd card support to Samsung Note 6 and waterproofing ability too. The S-Pen is going to stay as it is or may get some technological improvement considering Apple Pencil offers pressure sensitivity and tilt recognition.
The other major jump is 6 GB RAM , which is rumored for the Note 6 . So far 3 smartphones are known to run on 6 GB Ram , Vivo XPlay 5, Apolle Vernee and the Meizu Pro 6. Samsung may also have that as a differentiating factor in the Samsung Note 6.
Design wise we may see subtle changes with curvier looks and expected an upgrade to the battery to likely 3800 mAH.
These are some of the things rumored about the Samsung Note 6 , things will get clearer as we move closer to the Note 6 launch.
Related – ( Samsung Note 5 Android Marshmallow Update) – Samsung has also started rolling out the Android Marshmallow update for the Samsung Note 5 users in India. It is very late from the buyers perspective who would love to get the Android update on Day Zero instead of waiting for 6 months.
Android Marshmallow penetration is just 4.6% for March 16 , and Google may have to figure out ways how they can offer the update to all manufacturers in at least 30-60 days of getting the update on the Nexus devices.
Does this undue advantage make Nexus devices way powerful , yes it does!
