The new srt.phone has gone on sale on Flipkart priced at Rs. 12999 for 32 GB variant and 13999 ($210) for 64 GB version. Sachin Tendulkar Backed Smartron Launched SRT.phone last week, with Snapdragon 652 SoC and 3000mAh Battery.
Smartron, which entered the Indian smartphone market back in 2016 with the launch of its Smartron t.phone has announced its second smartphone. Dubbed as the Smartron srt.phone, it packs in mid-range specifications and is priced aggressively to take on the Chinese brands such as Xiaomi, Coolpad, and Lenovo. srt – stands for Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar
The Smartron srt.phone is priced at Rs. 12,999 for the 32 GB storage options and costs Rs. 13,999 for the 64 GB option. The device is aimed at the lower mid-range segment and offers similar specifications as what rival phones are offering.
The srt.phone rocks a 5.5-inch Full HD display with a pixel density of 403 PPI. The display is protected by the dated Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Powering the device is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 chipset clocked at 1.8 GHz with 4GB of RAM and Adreno 510 GPU.
The Snapdragon 652 is about 30% faster when compared to a Snapdragon 625 used in a Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 or Moto G5 Plus.
As said earlier, it comes in two storage options- 32GB/64GB with support for microSD card slot. The phone comes enclosed with a plastic body, which is a bummer considering that other phones in the price range are offering metal body.
Another notable point, it comes with the power button on the top side which may feel weird as most phones come with a power button on the side.
Also, the back panel of the phone is removable, and Smartron has launched various customized back panels with Sachin Tendulkar images printed on them.
Additionally, the srt.phone is said to offer unlimited cloud storage with the assistance of Smartron t.cloud service.
A 13MP camera sensor can be seen at the back with PDAF, f/2.0 aperture and LED Flash. Frontal, there’s a 5MP sensor for taking care of the selfies. It’s sad to see Smartron not going after the selfie trend.
The device has connectivity options such as 4G VoLTE, Dual SIM, Dual-band Wi-Fi (802.11 a/b/g/n/ac), Bluetooth 4.1, and GPS. It also has a USB Type-C port and a 3.5mm headphone jack port as well.
The device weighs in at 155 grams and comes with 8.9 mm thickness. Smartron has also added a 3000 mAh battery unit at the back with no support for fast charging technology.
