Sony Xperia X and Xperia XA India Priced Ridiculously High

Sony has finally started the pre-registration for the Sony Xperia X and Xperia XA smartphones in India couple of days back on 24 may 2016. The smartphones got listed on the official Sony Website for India, and you can visit and pre-register for both the smartphones.

Update 24 June 2016 – Sony has priced the Xperia XA at a price of Rs. 20,990 which is not as obnoxious as the price for Sony Xperia X. The Sony Xperia XA has gone on sale today and is available for purchase from Amazon India.

Update – 30 May 2016 – Sony has launched the Xperia X on Amazon India today.

The Price for the Sony Xperia X is ridiculously high; in fact, you can buy a Samsung S7 or an iPhone 6s at this price – Sony Xperia X costs Rs. 46,990 in India. I am not sure who decides the price on Sony India phones, but he has no consideration for market conditions.

The smartphones were unveiled back in February 2016 and are also on sale in Europe and other Global markets.

The SONY Xperia X and XA are mid-range smartphones from Sony.  Sony India has yet not listed the 2016 Flagship, the Sony Xperia X performance which is also likely to get launch in late June 2016 or early July.

The Sony X Performance can be a good alternative to the Samsung S7 launched on March 16 or the recently launched LG G5 which is priced by LG at Rs. 52,999. HTC also is gearing to launch the HTC 10 in India on 26th May 2016.  Lots of choices are coming for the Flagship buyers in the June 2016 and Samsung will have some competition from the top Android Manufacturers.

Sony Xperia X and XA have a very similar design when compared to the Xperia X Performance and have the curved metallic edge and a near bezel-less display. The Xperia X and the Xperia XA will be launched with the Dual Sim Variants in India as per prelim information.

Sony Xperia X

The Sony Xperia X is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 Hex – Core processor which is quite capable. The smartphone will come with 32 GB of internal storage, and there is also a micro-sd card slot to expand it to 200 GB.

The camera is superb on the new Sony Xperia X; it comes with a 23 Megapixel rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and a dedicated quick launch button. Sony Claims that the Camera can capture an image in just 0.6 seconds and with great clarity.  The autofocus system is much improved on this smartphone and has very fast image processing to click even the moving subjects with clarity.

There is also a brilliant 13 Megapixel selfies camera with Sony’s own RS sensor which performs great even in the low or artificial light conditions.

The Sony Xperia X comes with the curved display more like the 2.5 D glass, not the curved edge we see on the Samsung S7 edge. The smartphone has a 5.0-inch screen with Bravia engine and Full HD 1080P IPS LCD.

The Sony Xperia X has a 2650 mAH battery capacity which may sound low compared to the competition, but Sony claims the phone can run for two days with this battery. Sony has actually done a lot of optimizations and uses a technology known as the Qnovo Adaptive Charging which maintains the health of the battery and prolongs the life.

The smartphone weighs 152 grams and has a thickness of 7.7 mm.

Sony Xperia XA

The Sony Xperia XA comes with a 5 inch HD display with 1280*720 pixels and mobile Bravia engine. The smartphone is powered by the Helio P10 processor (Mediatek 6755) same as Meizu M3 Note, and it comes with 2 GB of RAM.

The Xperia XA has 13 Megapixel rear camera with fast autofocus and Dual Led Flash. The front camera is also great for selfies and comes with 8 MP resolution lens.

The smartphone has 2250 mAH battery capacity and with Sony’s Adaptive charging technology for prolonging the battery life.

It has a thickness of 7.99 mm and weighs 138 grams.

Sony has not shared the pricing information so far for Xperia XA, but going by the past trend, it is not going to be an affordable option. The camera is the big differentiating factor for smartphone buyers, and Sony has been excellent in this section, priced the smartphones rightly can do well in the market. Update – No they don’t rate it right.
