Sony Xperia XA1 is the successor to the last years Sony Xperia XA. The smartphone got launched today in India priced at Rs 19,990.
It is one of the most affordable Sony smartphone with a decent camera. Sony, unlike Samsung or LG, is not focusing on the bezel-less design they still keep things strong and thick at the front.
Sony Xperia XA 1 is no exception as far as the design philosophy goes, in fact, I am finding it difficult to differentiate any of the Sony new smartphone models.
SONY XPERIA XA1
The same design language with glass and metal construction, larger upper and lower bezels with on-screen buttons taking even more space. Though, it comes with an infinite loop design and precision cut aluminium side edges for extra strength.
On the positive side, the smartphone comes with a Sony Exmor RS image sensor with 23 Megapixel lens.
The camera comes with 24 mm wide angle lens, which gives you enough options to shoot broader landscapes and group pictures without any difficulty.
The camera boasts of HDR mode, 5X Zoom and has a decent f/2.0 aperture. The smartphone comes with a front 8 Megapixel Sony Camera with 23 mm wide angle lens to capture selfies or even the group selfies.
On the positive note, Sony Xperia XA1 also runs on the latest Android Nougat 7.0 with Sony’s own custom UI. The smartphone is powered by the Mediatek Helio P20 Processor which is a 64 Bit SOC and comes with a clock speed of 2.3 GHz.
It has 8 cores, out of which 4 power cores are clocked at 2.3 Ghz and other 4 energy saving cores are clocked at 1.6 GHz.
The smartphone comes with 32 GB of internal storage and it can be further expanded to 256 GB using the hybrid Micro-SD card slot.
The Sony Xperia XA1 has a 5.0 inch HD Display (1280*720) pixels which offers 283 PPi. Though most smartphones in this range even from brands like Samsung comes with Full HD Display.
The smartphone runs on a 2300 mAH battery capacity which is also not too much considering the display size. Though Sony smartphones are really well optimised to run longer but it would have been better if Sony could add at least 2600 mAH in a 5.0-inch display device.
Though the Sony device comes with a proprietary Qnova technology which ensures that the smartphone battery last longer and the battery lifespan is also increased.
There is 4G LTE as well as VOLTE support, you can use the smartphone with any network in India without any issues.
The other essential connectivity options include – USB Type-C port, Bluetooth 4.2 , WIFI, NFC for easy transmission of data. The smartphone is 8 mm in thickness which makes it ergonomic to work with and easy to use.
Unfortunately, the Sony Xperia XA1 does not come with a fingerprint scanner.
The Xperia XA 1 comes in black, white, gold and pink color options. The smartphone is available at Rs. 19,990 across Sony stores in India and will also be available online very soon. Sony has also launched the new Sony Xperia XZs priced at Rs 49,990 in the Indian market.
