Out of the four smartphones, two devices will cater to the flagship department, while two will be placed in the mid-range segment. And the two speculated flagship phones are Xperia XZ1 and XZ1 Compact.

Sony is the only brand launching compact versions of its flagship phones with a smaller display, and the trend will continue going forward. But before we get to discuss what is coming in terms of specs from Sony lets have a brief thought on the design of the Sony premium smartphones.

Sony Smartphone design is Antiquated

Sony launched the Xperia XZ Premium for a price tag of $1000 or Rs. 59,999 in Indian market and it still comes with large Bezels at the top and bottom side. Sony launched the Xperia Z3 in 2014 September and later refreshed the smartphone in April 2015 with the Sony Xperia Z5.

Both the smartphones came with the same design and the current Sony Xperia XZ Premium also have the same design but some refinements are there in terms of finish and materials used.

Is there anyone really designing Sony Smartphones they all look the same – it is 2017 Sony.

While Samsung and LG have moved to more bezel-less designs (in LG G6 or the Samsung Galaxy S8, even affordable smartphones like Micromax Canvas Infinity are offering a 18:9 aspect Ratio Sony is still stuck with a 2015ish design.

If you really want to sell a smartphone in 2017 or 2018 here is what the design for the new SONY Phone should have looked Like.
