Earlier this month, Japanese smartphone brand, Sony has announced its flagship phone, the Xperia XZs in India.
The Sony Xperia XZs is the mid-life upgrade to the last year’s Xperia XZ, and Sony hasn’t touched anything externally in XZs, and it comes with just the camera and RAM upgrade.
The design is more of a 2015 edition Sony smartphone with very thick bezels at the top and bottom. While the rest of the world is moving to infinite bezel-less designs. Sony is still stuck in the past.
The Sony Xperia XZs features a 19MP Motion Eye camera with memory stacked sensor with the sensor size of 1/2.3-inch. This camera’ specialty is that it can shoot slow-motion videos at 960 fps.
The XZs uses the same camera as its bigger brother, Sony Xperia XZ Premium. The camera also comes with 5-axis image stabilization and can shoot videos of 4K quality. It also has motion eye technology from the Sony Cybershot cameras which allows it to capture quick moving subjects with ease.
Another key highlight fo the Sony Xperia XZs is the super slow motion video recording capability.
It can record upto 960 fps Slow Motion Videos. I am a big fan of Sony Mirrorless DSLR camera’s and when it comes to camera, Sony is really Sony. Hope the new XZs don’t disappoint shutterbugs.
Up front, the Xperia XZs has a 13 MP camera with a larger 1/3.06-inch Exmor RS image sensor.
All the other hardware in the phone remain the same as Xperia XZ, except the bump in RAM capacity. Yes, the latest Xperia XZs comes with 4 GB of RAM, instead of 3 gigs seen on the XZ last year. The XZs boots Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box with Xperia skin on top.
The phone is powered by the quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC, clubbed with 64 GB of internal storage and Adreno 540 GPU. Sony could have better used the Snapdragon 821 Soc to make the device more competitive in the top of the line segment. 10% more performance would have sealed some numbers for the struggling Japenese giant.
This device is IP68 water and dust certified, which means that you don’t have to bother it carrying into the water for 30 minutes.
The XZs has a 5.2-inch Full HD display with Sony’s Triluminous technology and has connectivity options such as 4G LTE, VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and USB Type-C port. The Sony Xperia XZs comes with 2900 mAH battery capacity along with the fast charging support.
The smartphone also comes with the SONY special sound enhancements DSEE HX, LDAC, Digital Noise Cancelling, Clear Audio+ for a better audio experience.
Sony don’t make smartphones for the penny-pinching crowd and we can’t expect them to price it any cheaper, can we?
Sony has announced the phone in three color options- black, ice blue, and warm silver and all the color variants are up for sale via Flipkart and other offline retail channels. Besides, Sony has also launched the Xperia XA1 in India for Rs. 19,990.
