What is New in the Moto E Gen 2?
The New Moto E Gen 2 (3G) has got 1.2 GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon 200 Soc while the old Moto E had a 1.2 GHz Dual Core Snapdragon 200 processor. The new smartphone is expected to have better performance and user experience compared to the old Moto E.
The 4G Moto E version will be launched with the Snapdragon 410 Quadcore processor which is the new line of Snapdragon processor’s which came after the Snapdragon 400 series.
It is interesting to note that current Moto G comes with the Snapdragon 400 processor while Moto E 4G will be launched with the Snapdragon 410 processor. The Snapdragon 410 is a 64 Bit processor and will be able to support the next generation of Android versions easily.
We can expect Motorola to revise the Moto G with a new processor to keep it above the Moto E (4G). The GPU is Adreno 306 in the 4G LTE version and bound to deliver much better gaming performance compared to the legacy MOTO-E.
The new Motorola Moto E devices will be rolled out with Android Lollipop update. Motorola has begun to roll out the Android Lollipop update on the legacy Moto E. If you have not got the update you can follow these 6 simple steps to upgrade to Android Lollipop on Moto E.
The other significant change is the screen size, that has been increased from earlier 4.3 inches to a 4.5-inch screen. However, the resolution is still the same on the old and the new Moto E (QHD 540×960), and there is a slight decline in Pixels per inch from the current 256 PPI to 245 PPI.
There is an addition of a front 0.3 MP VGA Camera for the two new variants of Moto E.
The real camera on Moto E gen still lacks the flash. The internal storage has been upped from current 4 GB to 8 GB in both the new versions. Also, the battery capacity has been increased in the revised model to 2390 mAh which is pretty good to make it last a day with moderate to heavy usage.
