Couple of weeks back we reported that Nokia is making a comeback to the smartphone business and this time it is not Microsoft which will be running the show.
Nokia Story So Far
Nokia got acquired by Microsoft and last year Microsoft removed the Nokia branding from the Lumia series of smartphones which are now known as the Microsoft Lumia.
The agreement between Microsoft and Nokia was that they can’t use the Nokia brand name to launch any smartphones till 2015 end.
Now that period is getting over and it is the Nokia’s parent company Nokia technologies which will be launching the Nokia branded smartphone.
The Finnish company once remained as a pioneer in Cellphone manufacturing, later it faced several misfortunes and failed to produce innovative products against its competitors.
The astronomical growth of Android also had an impact on Nokia’s smartphone segment.
The brand eventually died and became a classic case study of a company which failed to understand the business environment and consumer needs and eventually failed.
Nokia’s tie up with Microsoft gradually pushed it to pitfall and the contract even restricted the company from manufacturing smartphones.
Expected Come back of Nokia
Nokia is again trying to get back in track by turning its focus towards android, earlier this year Nokia released its first Android based tablet named Nokia N1. That is again a separate case why the great Nokia tablet never reached India or a matter of fact to many other countries.
The tablet design and specs were really promising, even I kept an eye if can grab one for myself, but availability was restricted to some flash sales in China where it got sold before an eye blink.
Major issue was the vendor used to make the tablet and inadequate supply.
Followed by that Nokia is working on an Android powered smartphone, the device caries the same name Nokia C1.
It has been rumored for a long time.
The New Nokia C1 Android Marshmallow Smartphone
The new smartphone was recently leaked on a Chinese website revealing an actual image of the new smartphone along with its specs.
The new smartphone will feature a 5 inch Full HD 1080p display, and expected to run on the Android Marshmallow 6.0.
The phone will have an Intel chipset and 2 GB RAM.
The device is rumored to come with an 8MP primary camera and a 5MP secondary camera.
Nokia already announced about its plans to re-enter smartphone manufacturing after finding a suitable hardware partner, so we may surely expect a new android phone from Nokia sometime next year.
Though market has changed a lot since golden days of Nokia and when N series was the dope thing everybody wanted.
It may take a lot of effort, persistence and innovation to beat the current level of competition.
