High-Performance Xiaomi laptops Powered By Ryzen
Xiaomi has 3 different series of laptops in China:
- Mi Notebook Pro and Notebook Air
- Mi Gaming laptops
It will be interesting to see which laptops the company chooses to launch in India. We hope they launch the RedmiBook with Ryzen processors.
Considering there is a significant development in processor technology recently, a lot of people will like to upgrade to the new Ryzen 4000 processors.
Inherently, laptops used to have either Dual-Core or Quad-Core processors, which is now changing as Hexa-Core and Octa-Core processors are becoming more common in the mid-to-high range of laptops.
Xiaomi RedmiBook Laptops Powered By AMD Ryzen Processor
Xiaomi has recently launched the Redmibook 13, 14, and 16 in China and we can expect the brand to launch these in India. The India launch is expected in June 2020.
If Xiaomi manages to launch the new Ryzen Processor-based laptops early in India, it can disrupt the market and unsettle established players like Dell, Lenovo, and HP.
Key Specs and Details for RedmiBook
As the name suggests the laptops come with 13 Inch, 14 Inch, and 16-inch display and have over 90% screen to body ratio with slim bezels on the top and sides.
RedmiBook 13, 14 and 16 Launch – Specs, Price, and Features
The Redmibook 13 is launched in three versions in China and comes in the following configuration.
- AMD Ryzen 5 4500U CPU with 8GB DDR4 RAM and 512GB SSD variant – CNY 3,799 (approx Rs. 40,500),
- AMD Ryzen 5 4500U CPU with 16GB DDR4 RAM and 512GB SSD variant – CNY 3,999 (Approx Rs. 42,500)
- AMD Ryzen 7 4700U CPU with 16GB DDR4 RAM and 1TB SSD variant – CNY 4,999 (Approx Rs. 53,300).
Powering the laptops is the Ryzen 4500U and 4700U processors. These are ultra-energy-efficient processors and comes with 6 Core/ 6 threads and 8 Core / 8 threads core count and 15 Watts TDP.
The Ryzen 4500U comes with a base clock speed of 2.3 GHz and has a boost clock of 4.0 GHz.
The Ryzen 4700U comes with a base clock of 2.0 GHz and has a boost clock speed of 4.1 GHz.
The RedmiBook 14 and 16 also use the same processor and are available in the 512 GB model with 8/16 GB Ram. The 1 TB model is only launched in the 13 Inch screen size.
The price for the RedmiBook 14 is CNY 3999 or Rs. 41,500 whereas the 16 Inch model costs CNY 4449 or Rs. 46,000.
These are really affordable prices considering these processors are equivalent to Intel Core i7 or Core i9. Typically such laptops from Dell, Lenovo, and HP cost over Rs. 80,000 in India.
The India price can have a significant markup as these are not made in India and will attract higher import duty as well as GST. Still, we can expect the price to be between Rs. 60,000 to Rs. 70000 for these laptops.
This can be a worrying sign for other laptop makers who are, so far, safe from the predatory pricing of Xiaomi.
Further, all the models come with a Full HD display with a 60 Hz refresh rate and 250 nits brightness. The 16 Inch RedmiBook comes with 300 nits display that is superior to other models.
Also, the 16-inch model comes with a 46WHr battery and the other two have a 40Whr battery.
For connectivity, these come with USB Type C, USB Type A, 3.5 mm headphone jack, and HDMI Port. Additionally, we have dual-band WIFI and Bluetooth 5.0.
All the models come with the Windows 10 pre-installed and have 2Watt speakers with DTS Audio.
All three laptops are very sleek and lightweight.
- RedmiBook 13 Thickness – 17.8mm and weighs 1.23kg.
- RedmiBook 14 Thickness – 16.85mm and weighs 1.28kg.
- RedmiBook 16 Thickness – 17.55mm and weighs 1.8kg.
It will be interesting to see if these thin laptops are able to manage the heat produced by the 6/8 core processors and run silently.
Looking forward to testing and analyzing these new Xiaomi laptops when they launch in India.
