Futuristic Vivo Nex and Nex A are Official – Top 6 Incredible Features
Vivo, the Chinese mobile maker, is in the news these days for launching new mobiles with cutting-edge technology. Recently, they launched the Vivo X21 in the Indian market, the first ever phone to come with an in-display Fingerprint reader.
To recall, Vivo in the past launched the first ever 6 GB Ram mobile, the XPlay 5 Elite, or the thinnest phone in the world, the Vivo X5 Max which measures just 4.75 mm in thickness.
The next phone from Vivo is called as Nex and is launched in China with some dope tech. In fact, Vivo launched two models for the Nex yesterday.
The Vivo Nex A is the less premium among the two models and misses out on some exclusive features. Moreover, the Nex is based on the ambitious Vivo Apex, showcased at the MWC in February 2018.
Let’s take a look at what Vivo is bringing to the table with Vivo Nex and the Nex-A, and have a glance at top features.
1. True Bezel-less Display (91.2% Screen to Body ratio) Without Visible Front Camera or Notch
Nowadays, a lot of new devices are coming with bezels thinner than ever before. From Apple iPhone X to Xiaomi, almost every phone maker has at least one such device in their portfolio.
Vivo Nex features a massive 6.59-inch bezel-less display with a resolution of 1080 x 2316 pixels, and there is no visible front camera or notch at the top.
The front camera comes out from the top edge, using a motor mechanism, whenever you need to click a selfie. Also, it comes with an OLED display as the in-display fingerprint scanning technology only work with OLED panels and not with the IPS LCD panels.
Strikingly, the devices have a fantastic screen-to-body ratio of 91.24%. While other manufacturers are struggling and shipping phones with a notch, Vivo is looking at new alternatives to make the phone genuinely bezel-less.
No Top Earpiece – As you can observe there is absolutely nothing other than the display on the top side while the bottom has a small bezel. The screen sound casting technology replaces the top earpiece similar to the Mi Mix and Mix 2.
2. In-Display fingerprint Scanner
Identical to the Vivo X21, the Nex also comes with a in display fingerprint scanner. On the other hand, the Vivo Nex A comes with a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.
That said, a user will be able to unlock the phone by placing a finger on the display.
The Vivo Apex came with a larger area of the screen to work as a fingerprint scanner, however, the new Nex has only a thumb size portion that you can use a fingerprint scanner.
Also, Vivo says the new third-generation sensor improves the unlocking speed which is probably going to be better in comparison to the Vivo X21.
The Vivo Nex and Nex A come with a lot of hardware muscle to ensure that they offer smooth user experience. The Vivo Nex runs on the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 Processor along with 8 GB Ram.
Whereas, the Nex A gets the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 processor and 6 GB Ram. The Nex offers a massive 256 GB storage, whereas the Nex A comes with 128 GB of internal storage.
Additionally, both the devices boot Android Oreo 8.1 and the Vivo custom skin out of the box.
4. Large Battery
For a device with a display as big as a phablet, its battery has to be large enough to power it up.
Both the devices come with a 4000 mAh battery to fuel it for all day usage.
There are impressive Dual rear cameras, however, these are no match for the Google Pixel 2 XL or the Samsung S9.
Following the ongoing trend, Vivo Nex features a set of 12-megapixel + 5-megapixel cameras on its rear side. The primary camera comes with a f/1.8 aperture lens while the secondary camera has f/2.4 aperture glass.
Also, it comes with phase-detection autofocus and dual-LED dual-tone flash.
Whereas, the selfie camera that comes out using the super cool mechanism, will take decent enough photos with its 8-megapixel sensor (f/2.0 aperture).
6. Dual-SIM and USB Type-C
Vivo Nex comes with Dual-SIM slots and will also have support for 4G VOLTE.
Also, the phone has newer USB port standard. It comes with USB Type-C port for connectively along with other options such as Bluetooth, WiFi, GPS, and so on.
The phone measures 7.99 mm in thickness and weighs 199 grams which are a bit heavy to my liking.
Launch Date and Price
The phone is available only in the Chinese market at the moment and is a bit expensive if we compare it to the Xiaomi Mi8. The higher variant costs CNY 4998 or Rs. 49,500 and the lower version 3798 Yuan or Rs. 39,000.
