Vivo X9 and X9 Plus selfie centric smartphones are announced today in China. Vivo has yesterday unveiled the Vivo V5 and Vivo V5 Max which also comes with a single 20 MP front selfie camera. Going one step ahead the new Vivo X9 and X9 Plus comes with a Dual Front Camera using 20 MP + 8 MP lens combination.

Both the smartphones comes with Dual front camera set up; oddly the smartphones rear camera carries a Single 16 MP sensor.

This is not the first time for a smartphone to have dual camera setup on the front. A year ago, Lenovo released world’s first smartphone with Dual Front camera setup, which included a 8 MP and 2 MP pair of camera. The smartphone was called as Lenovo Vibe S1 – World’s first Dual Selfie camera smartphone.

But the X9 and X9 plus smartphones includes extreme selfie set up. There is a 20 MP primary sensor using a 1/2.8″ Sony IMX376 sensor, with an aperture of f/2.0. In addition to that there is an 8 MP depth sensor to ensure you get the depth of field and bokeh like a DSLR.

The Vivo X9 comes with 5.5 inch screen and a Full HD Super Amoled display.  The smartphone is powered by a  64 Bit, Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 Octa Core processor clocked at 2.0 GHz. The smartphone have 4 GB RAM and 64 GB internal storage space. With an SD slot for expansion. There is also an international version of the Vivo X9 which come with 128 GB storage.

The rear camera for the Vivo X9 offers 16 MP sensor and comes with f/2.0 aperture, PDAF and a single LED flash, apart from the Dual front cameras. The Vivo X9 also boasts of Hi Fi sound like most of the Vivo smartphones and come with a AKM4376 DAC to appeal to audiophiles. There is a fingerprint scanner embedded in the home button to ensure quick unlocking of the device.

The smartphone comes with 3050 mAH capacity battery. The Vivo X9 measures 6.99 mm in thickness and weighs 154 grams which makes it one of the sleekest Dual Camera smartphones out there.

The Vivo X9 is priced at CNY 2798 (about $406)  or Rs. 28,000 for the 64 GB variant and CNY 2998 (about $435) or Rs. 30,000 for the 128 GB version. The smartphone will go on pre-orders in China starting 16th November 2016.

The Vivo X9 plus on the other hand have slightly larger screen measuring 5.88 inches and also comes with Full HD display (1080*1920 pixels) and super Amoled panel.  The Vivo X9 plus gets the more powerful latest processor from Qualcomm the Snapdragon 653. The Octa-Core processor is roughly 30% faster when compared to the Snapdragon 625 used in the Vivo X9.

There is also 6 GB  of Ram to ensure that the X9 Plus meets the demand for enthusiast buyers. The smartphone comes with 128 GB storage. The Vivo X9 Plus also the similar 20 MP + 8 MP front selfie camera setup and also has a 16 MP rear camera like the Vivo X9.

The Vivo X9 also gets a larger battery with 4000 mAh capacity for all day battery life . The Vivo X9 plus comes with even more goodness for music lovers with dedicated DAC ES9018 & ES9603.

The Vivo X9 and X9 plus smartphones are made of metal with uni-body design and have uncanny resemblance to the iPhone 7, with protruding antenna strips. Both smartphone will run on Android Marshmallow 6.0, with a custom skin on top.

The Vivo X9 Plus will be available for purchase on 26th December and pricing information will also get revealed near the launch.
