The price drop for the Xiaomi Mi4 64 GB makes it a better deal Vs. the 16 GB Mi4 Version. Xiaomi after selling 35 million units in the first half of 2015 is pushing hard to sell more by rolling out a series of price cuts one after another.
To meet its revised year-end target of shipping 80 million smartphones, which is very ambitious for a company as young as Xiaomi. The announcement came on the eve of 1 year of the launch of Mi4 flagship brand.
Mi4’s 64 GB variant has also undergone a permanent price cut, and it now carries a price tag of 17,999 which after a series of price cut is Rs 6000 cheaper than its launch price.
Xiaomi’s Mi4 16 GB which was launched in India at a market price of Rs 19,999 in August 2014 was revised to Rs 17,999 around mid-April 2015 is again underwent a price reduction. The smartphone got another price cut last month and now is trading at Rs 14,999 on Flipkart.
Both the 16 GB and the 64 GB Mi4 have similar specs and design; the only difference lies in the storage size. Both the smartphones don’t have the option to add the micro sd card.
In term of affordability and the configuration, Mi 4 16 Gb and 64 GB are by far ahead of rivals. Reduction in prices often paves the way to the new announcements, and the company is expected to announce the new range of smartphones.
Xiaomi 16 GB is now the first smartphone to carry Snapdragon 801 Chipset with a sub Rs 15,000 price tag. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 801 processors are a premium off the shelf product supporting high performance, efficient image processing, heavy 3D games, seamless multitasking and effective communication. The smartphone supports Full HD display and Full HD video capturing. It is fantastic for gaming, browsing and streaming data.
The battery is Lithium-ion of capacity 3080 mAh which is more than adequate for running it all day. On optimum usage, it can last up to two days. To boost the charging speed, the phone has Quick charge ver 2.0 on it. Some users have reported a moderate heating problem on excessive usage, but with the latest version of MIUI 6.5.3, it seems company has alleviated the heating problem to a larger extent. Mi 4 sound quality is also pretty good.
The phone comes in two color variants viz. Black and white. Device sports a 5- inch display screen, resolution of 1920*1080 pixels. The front camera is of 8 MP supporting [email protected] which is a perfect tool feature of selfie lovers.
The rear camera comes with 13 MP supporting 4128*3096 pixel resolution with various features like Autofocus, image stabilization, etc. Phone support flash for good quality captures at low or lousy light conditions. IPS display ensures the display can be viewed correctly from wide angles. Further, protecting the display is the Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection.
Powering the device is a 2.5 GHz quad-core CPU with Adreno 330 GPU. Additionally, there is 3 GB RAM and 16/64 GB internal memory.
The phone runs on Android 4.4 KitKat operating system which is based on MIUI 6.0 user interface. While the Xiami Mi4i runs on the Android Lollipop 5.0.
Mi4 components are mounted on a strong Stainless steel frame which provides extra and makes the structure more rugged.
At the current price, it’s the best configuration phone regarding hardware, software, features and a perfect must-buy device under Rs. 20,000. Combined with exchange offer available on Flipkart, Mi4 16GB can be bought in Rs 12k, and Mi4 64 GB variant can be bought around 13-14k as well.
Verdict – Mi4 16 GB or the Mi4 64 GB – Which is the Right Choice.
If you are looking forward to buying the Xiaomi Mi4, I would suggest you go ahead with the 64 GB rather than 16 GB, so you are future proof and able to use the smartphone for 2-3 years without getting obsolete. If you have a limited budget and don’t want to stretch it, then the 16 GB variant is also a good choice.
