Let’s compare both the smartphones and see which the right choice is for you.
Design and Looks Comparison:
The Xiaomi Mi4i has a plastic body and build and finish is good but not exemplary. The smartphone has a thin body and frame with only 7.8 mm thickness while the Mi4 has a little higher measuring 8.9 grams.
Xiaomi Mi4 looks more premium and offers great built quality to the buyers, though it also has a plastic frame still it scores a little higher in the looks department compared to the simple designed Mi4i.
The Mi4i is very thin and light weigh weighing only 130 grams, the Mi4 on the other hand is a bit heavy weighing 149 grams.
The Xiaomi Mi4i is powered by the Octa- Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor (Quad-core 1.7 GHz Cortex-A53 & quad-core 1.0 GHz Cortex-A53). While Xiaomi Mi4 runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 Quad-core 2.5 GHz Krait 400 processor. Comparing the processor performance the 801 is far advanced and faster compared to the Snapdragon 615 in terms of performance. We can expect a 10-15% gap based on various benchmarks. However both the smartphones are really fast and can play all modern games with ease.
The Xiaomi Mi4i has 2 GB of RAM and runs on Android Lollipop 5.0.2 – the latest Android version.
The Xiaomi Mi4 on the other hand offers 3 GB of RAM and runs on the Android Kitkat and is modded with the MIUI 6.0.
The Xiaomi Mi4i has 13 MP rear camera which is decent and also has a 5MP front camera for clicking selfies. The Xiaomi Mi4 has a 13 MP rear camera and a 8 MP front camera which is great for click o maniacs.
Storage as our title suggest is 32 GB with the Xiaomi Mi4i and the Mi4 offers non expandable 16 GB Storage. The 16 GB non expandable storage is a major drawback for users who like to use a lot of space and would like to add-on a micro-sd card. I have been using a smartphone with 16 GB and never felt the need to have more space, as I frequently transfer data on the laptop whenever needed.
The Mi4i is a 4G LTE supporting smartphone and offers dual sim connectivity. On the other hand the Mi4 has a single sim support and supports the 3G network and miss support on the 4G LTE.
Screen Size and Resolution
Both the smartphone has 5.0 inch Full HD screen with 1920*1080, with 441 pixel density. Both the smartphones have excellent display with IPS LCD capacitive touch screen.
The Xiaomi Mi4i despite it’s really thin frame has a non-removable Li-ion 3120 mAH battery capacity. On the other hand the Xiaomi Mi4 has 3080 mAH capacity Li-ion non-removable battery.
In the battery compartment both the smartphones are almost equal.
Verdict – Xiaomi Mi4i 32 GB Vs Mi4 16 GB
The Xioami Mi4i (32 GB) scores more on the storage front, leaner and lighter profile, 4G LTE connectivity over the Xiaomi Mi4.
The Mi4 has a great processor Snapdragon 801 along with 3 GB of RAM, which makes it more future proof. The design is robust and has a better front camera with 8 MP resolution.
Overall both the smartphones suffer from the cons and have their own strength. If your need is higher storage, 4G connectivity then Mi4i looks like a better option. On the other hand if you desire to have better camera and faster processor and higher RAM the Mi4 is the way to go.
