With competition kicking in the premium smartphone segment with launch of New Samsung Galaxy Note 7 and One Plus 3 Samsung and Xiaomi has cut the price for Samsung S7, S7 Edge and Xiaomi Mi5 in the Indian market.
Also it has been a good 5 months since these smartphones were launched and surprisingly have been able to hold on to the launch price. Samsung S6 and S6 edge got a price cut last year of around Rs. 9000 just after 1-1.5 month of launch. This year Samsung has been able to hold on to the prices for very long while we were anticipating a price cut couple of weeks back.
Both the Samsung Smartphones have got a price drop of Rs. 5,000 from the launch price. The Samsung S7 (read review) and Samsung S7 Edge were launched in the Indian market on 18 March 2016 with the free VR bundle.
The Samsung S7 at the time of launch was priced at Rs. 48,900 and now will be available for Rs. 43,400. The Samsung S7 Edge was priced at Rs. 56,900 at launch and is now available for Rs. 50,900.
Samsung Note 7 has been launched at Rs. 59,999 and the price cut for both these devices was eminent as the Note series usually get a higher pricing.
The Xiaomi Mi5 was launched on 31st March 2016 in the Indian market at a price of Rs. 24,999 with 32 GB of storage and 3 GB RAM. The smartphone has now got a good discount and a permanent price cut of Rs. 2000, it is available now for Rs. 22,999.
However the iPhone 6s is still selling at a premium price of Rs. 47,000 in the market which is much higher compared to the Rs. 42,000 price in March 16 when the Samsung S7 and S7 edge was launched.
We can expect the Cupertino tech behemoth to cut some priced as the new iPhone 7 release is expected next month.
