Xiaomi has launched the new budget smartphone Redmi 4 in India on 16 May 2017, at an event in New Delhi. Xiaomi has been teasing about the new Redmi device for some days and it was mostly known that they are going to launch the Xiaomi Redmi 4 in India.
The Indian version of Xiaomi Redmi 4 is same as the Xiaomi Redmi 4X which was launched in China back in February 2017. Redmi 4X comes with same specs and design in China as the Xiaomi Redmi 4 in India.
The Xiaomi Redmi 4 is actually the successor of the Xiaomi Redmi 3S and 3S Prime in India, which Xiaomi may discontinue to sell in some days. The Xiaomi Redmi 4 is launched in India in 3 different variants, starting at Rs 6,999.
The smartphone raise the bar yet again for the budget mobiles and is even better than the Xiaomi Redmi 3S, which came with class leading specs and really affordable price.
The Xiaomi Redmi 4 Variants launched in India:
- Redmi 4 – 2 GB RAM and 16 GB Storage Price Rs 6,999
- Redmi 4 – 3 GB RAM and 32 GB Storage Price Rs 8,999
- Redmi 4 – 4 GB RAM and 64 GB Storage Price Rs 10,999
The smartphone will be available in Mate Black as well as Gold colour in India. The Xiaomi Redmi 4 will go on sale on 23 may 2017 on Amazon and Mi.com at 12:00 PM, Indian time. The Redmi 4 will also go on sale on Mi Home Store in Bangalore on 20th May at 9.00 am. Users will have to pre-book the device on Mi.com and can take the delivery at the Mi Home Store. The pre-booking amount is Rs. 1000.
Coming to the specs and features of the Xiaomi Redmi 4, the smartphone is powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 processor clocked at 1.4 GHz and comes with Adreno 505 GPU.
The metallic smartphone has a rear camera at one side and the fingerprint scanner is placed at the back of the device. The smartphone comes with 5 Inch Display and has HD resolution with 283 PPi.
There is also 2.5D curve glass on top of the display to enhance the looks. The Redmi 4 runs on the Android Marshmallow 6.0 along with the MIUI 8.0, though Xiaomi is offering Android Nougat early preview on the device.
The Redmi 4 comes with a 13 Megapixel rear camera (f/2.0 aperture) with LED Flash and Autofocus. There is also a 5 Megapixel front facing camera (f/2.2 aperture) to click selfies. The mobile comes with some nifty features like App Lock, Dual Apps, second space and infrared sensor.
The Redmi 4 boasts of a large 4100 mAH battery similar to its predecessor Redmi 3S prime and can easily work all day on 4G network. The Dual sim smartphone has support for 4G LTE as well as VOLTE to work with Reliance JIO and other mobile operators in India.
The Redmi 4 has 8.6 mm of thickness and weighs 150 grams which is not too much considering the battery size. Overall the Xiaomi Redmi 4 is a delightful addition to the Xiaomi’s Indian portfolio and is a slightly better option compared to the Redmi 3s and 3S prime.
