The Xiaomi Redmi 5 was launched in India couple of months back, and we may have to wait for 2-3 more months before the company thinks of bringing the Redmi 6 to the land of the tiger.

Redmi 6 Key Specs and Details

There are several upgrades in the new Redmi 6 in comparison to the Redmi 5 that also comes with an 18:9 display and runs on the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 processor.

Display and Design

The Redmi 6 looks different in comparison to the Redmi 5 and comes with a curved back design. There are Dual rear cameras at the backside, and the antenna lines pass through these.

The back cover is metallic, and the top and bottom part seems to be of plastic to improve the signal strength. The front side is neat and comes with a full-screen a low bezel display.

Similar to the Redmi 6A, there is a 5.45 Inch HD+(1440*720) pixels display that comes with 295-pixel density. There is an 80.7% screen to body ratio that is incredible, for a low cost mobile.

It is not very bulky and comes with 8.3 mm thickness and has 145 grams weight.

The Xiaomi Redmi 6 runs on the Android Oreo 8.1 along with the MIUI 9.5, and we can expect it to get the latest MIUI 10 in the coming months.

Powering the phone is the new 12 Nm Mediatek Helio P22 processor which is an Octa-Core SOC and comes with a maximum clock speed of 2.0 GHz. Also, for gaming and graphics intensive tasks there is IMG PowerVR GE8320 GPU.

Aforementioned, the device comes with either 2/3/4 GB ram with 32/64 GB of internal storage that is user expandable. Besides, there is a dedicated memory card slot so you can use Dual sims as well as the memory card simultaneously.

The phone comes with Dual cameras at the back that are horizontally aligned unlike the Redmi Note 5 Pro or the Redmi Y2 that has vertically aligned cameras.

There are a 12 Megapixel primary camera and a 5 Megapixel secondary depth-sensing camera for clicking images in portrait mode. The camera lens comes with 1.25-micron size and has a f/2.2 aperture.

For selfies, there is a 5 MP front camera that comes with f/2.2 aperture and 1.12-micron pixel lens. Furthermore, there is support for Ai beautification and portrait selfies.

Other Features

The device comes with all the standard connectivity options such as 4G VOLTE, Dual Sim, Micro-USB port, WIFI, and Bluetooth.

Also, there is a face-unlocking feature that allows you to unlock the device without the swipes and touches. However, Xiaomi has also added a fingerprint scanner at the back of the device that allows you for even quicker unlocking, in case you don’t plan to use the facial recognition technology.

Lastly, the phone comes with a 3000 mAh capacity battery that is sufficient to last all day long with ease.

At the moment, it is difficult to say when Xiaomi will launch the Redmi 6 or the Redmi 6A in India but going by the aggressive pace we see these can’t be too far away.
