Xiaomi has launched a new version of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 in China powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 processor. The model is dubbed as Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 (Snapdragon 650 Version) and will go on sale in China on Sunday 17th Jan 2016. Xiaomi is planning to bring the Snapdragon version of the Redmi Note 3 in India this month.
Originally Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 is powered by the MediaTek Helio X10 processor which is replaced in the new variant by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 Chipset. Smartphone runs on the Android Lollipop 5.1 along with the MIUI 7.0.
Xiaomi Note 3 was launched in November 2015 in China originally.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 is a monster of a processor, scored a massive 77000 on the Antutu benchmark.
The Snapdragon 650 is accompanied by the Adreno 510 GPU supports DirectX 12 and OpenGL ES 3.1 which definitely improves the gaming performance of the smartphone in all latest Android games.
The Snapdragon 650 is a Hexa Core processor with 4 Cortex-A-53 Cores and 2 Cortex-A-72 Cores with faster cores clocked at 1.8 GHz.
Xiaomi today announced that they would be launching the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 in India. However, they have not given out any details about the price specs and e-commerce partner or exact date of launch for the device.
It will be interesting to see what Xiaomi will launch in India, Xiaomi had litigation going with Ericsson which forbid it from launching any Mediatek processor powered device in India.
As per the last news, things have been sorted, and Xiaomi can launch the Mediatek powered mobiles in India. I think they will launch the Mediatek Helio X10 model in India.
Xiaomi announced about the Snapdragon 650 variant on the Chinese equivalent of Twitter, Weibo and confirmed that the smartphone would go on sale starting 17th January 2016. The smartphone comes with a similar design and metal build like the original Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 and is priced at CNY 999 or Rs. 10,000 for the 16 GB Version.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 comes with 5.5-inch display with Full HD resolution and 401 PPI. The device comes in two variants with 3 GB RAM and 32 GB storage and 2 GB RAM along with 16 GB internal storage.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 has 16 Megapixel rear camera (0.1s ultra-fast PDAF (Phase Detection Auto Focus) which is bumped up from the 13 Megapixel Camera on the Mediatek helio X10 version. There is a front facing 5 MP camera to take selfies. The device has 8.65 mm thickness and weighs around 164 grams.
The key highlight for the Redmi Note 3 is 4050 mAH battery capacity which is sufficient to last all day with heavy usage.
The mobile will be available in Silver, Gold and Grey colors.
The smartphone comes with features like a fingerprint scanner, Dual Sim support, and 4G LTE.
The Xiaomi Mobile will also support VOLTE (Voice over LTE Technology) as per the recent information shared by Xioami.
