Xiaomi unveiled the latest mid-range smartphone the Redmi Note 3 yesterday in China, at an event held at the China National Convention Centre in Beijing.
The Redmi Note 3 is the successor to the Redmi Note 2 which was launched in China on August 13, 2015.
The Redmi Note 3 is unveiled in China, but no date is yet given out by Xiaomi for it’s India launch.
In fact, Xiaomi has not brought the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 to the Indian shores so far, and the options available for the Indian buyers are limited to the Redmi 2 Prime and the Xiaomi Mi4i.
We expect Xiaomi may introduce the Redmi Note 2 in India first (in January 2016) and maybe launch the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 at the end of March 2016.
The smartphone is launched in two variants 2GB RAM + 16 GB internal storage and the 3 GB RAM + 32 GB internal storage. The 2GB/16 GB version is priced at $140 or Rs. 9200 while the 3GB/ 32 GB version is priced at $172 or Rs. 11,200. Pricing is quite aggressive considering the specs and features which Xiaomi is offering in the new smartphone.
The Key highlight of the smartphone is the all-metal uni-body design which comes with a thin frame measuring 8.65 mm at the thickest point and weighs 164 grams.
The mobile body has been sandblasted and refined to give the best metal finish with smooth contoured edges.
Xiaomi stressed during the launch presentation that is the first Xiaomi smartphone with an all-metal body and a fingerprint sensor. The finger print sensor is housed below the rear camera. The fingerprint scanner offers fast unlocking with 0.3 seconds response time and convenient option to be used with Mi-Pay.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 comes with the 5.5-inch sunlight fully laminated display which offers excellent visibility even in broad daylight. The smartphone has a Full HD Display (1920*1080) pixel resolution. The screen offers 401 PPI with a good display for watching videos and reading.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Successor to Redmi Note 2 launched: The smartphone will ship with the latest version of the MIUI 7.0 along with the Android Lollipop 5.1 or may get an upgrade to the Android marshmallow at the time it gets released for India.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 is powered by the MediaTek Helios X10 Octa-Core 64 Bit processor. The processor is accompanied by either 2 GB or 3 GB RAM depending upon the Redmi Note 3 variant.
The smartphone offers Dual Sim 4G LTE connectivity along with the native support for the 3G and 2G network.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 comes with a massive 4000 mAH battery capacity with 690 Wh/L high energy density to offer more than a day battery life. Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 also comes with support for the fast charging feature and battery gets charged up-to 50% in one hour.
The rear Camera is a 13 Megapixel shooter which comes with PDAF (phase detection autofocus) mode to ensure faster subject focus and less blur in the images. The Dual-tone flash accompanies the camera.
The front camera is a wide-angle 5-megapixel shooter and offers good photography option for selfie lovers.
The smartphone will be available in three color variants – Gold, Silver and dark grey.
Xiaomi also unveiled the MIPAD 2 the successor of Mi Pad at the event powered by the current generation iIntelAtom X5 (Z8500) Quad Core processor.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 is a good refresh for the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G with improved specs , camera and battery life. Lot of Xiaomi Fans would be eagerly waiting for the Redmi Note 3 to debut in India.
