Further, they confirmed that they sold 100,000 Xiaomi Mi5 and Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 on the 6th April Mi Fan Festival day and over 1.2 million people visited the Mi.com website. We also tried to buy the Redmi Note 3 but it went out of stock before the blink of an eye, on both Amazon and Mi.com.
There is a huge demand for the 32 GB version of the Redmi Note 3, and Xiaomi doesn’t have enough stock of the smartphone.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 is the successor to the Redmi Note 2 that never made it to India. Notably, Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 was launched in November End in China and in a matter of just 3 months made a debut in India.
Moreover, the Xioami Redmi Note 2 was launched on 13 August 2015 in China.
It is a welcome news for the Xiaomi Fans who were expecting the smartphone back in December 2015. At that point, Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note Prime that is not doing great in the market.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 3: Preview and Thoughts
Build Quality and Design
The smartphone comes with a metallic body and offers much better build quality compared to the earlier models. It measures 8.65 mm in thickness and weighs 165 grams.
Further, there is a chrome rim around the edge at the front making it safer when placed face down or if it falls. Although it also is a bit inconvenient while talking on the phone before you get used to it.
Xiaomi has done a great job in terms of design and finish. The metal build has attention to details. It is far better in comparison to the Xiaomi Mi4i or the Redmi Note Prime.
The Gold variant looks best and rightly Xiaomi is selling it from its own website Mi.com. While the other colors through major e-retailers.
The redmi Note 3 comes with a sim ejector tool, 10 Watts charger, Data Cable and an instruction booklet.
The battery capacity is one of the significant talking points, offers 4050 mAH capacity. It has a 690 Wh/L high energy density to offer long battery life and longer recharge cycles. Further, the battery comes with fast charging feature and can charge upto 50% in just 60 minutes.
Notably, the other major highlight for the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 is the fast fingerprint scanner. Xiaomi boasts is one of the most responsive sensors and can unlock the device in 0.3 seconds.
Next, the phone comes with 5.5-inch screen size with Full HD resolution (1920*1080) with a pixel density of 401 PPI. Xiaomi has used a hard glass protection but has not specified if it’s Gorilla or Asahi Glass.
Furthermore, the display comes with Xiaomi’s Sunlight Display hardware feature. It improves the visibility of the screen under direct sunlight.
Also, there is a night mode on the smartphone to reduce the blue light effect on eyes, at night.
Next, it runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 (6 Core- 64 Bit processor) clocked at 1.8 GHz. The Snapdragon 650 is a monster with near flagship performance, it scored above 75000 in the Antutu benchmark.
The processor has 2 Cortex-A72 Cores running on @ 1.8 GHz and has 4 Cores Cortex-A53 with 1.4 GHz clock speed. The Adreno 510 GPU is quite capable. Notably, it performs much better compared to Helio X10( Le 1S) or MTK 6753 of Lenovo K4 Note.
Impressively, the SD 650 matches the Snapdragon 808 with a similar score on Antutu. The SD 808 is a premium processor, available on the LG G4 and the Google Nexus 5X.
The powerful processor makes Redmi Note 3 better compared to the Huawei Honor 5X, LE 1S, and even the Lenovo K4 Note. The processor is the heart of the smartphone and Xiaomi redmi Note 3 comes with a bigger heart than any rival.
Besides, a powerful processor, it has a 16 Megapixel rear camera, equipped with PDAF( phase detection autofocus) and even has a Dual LED flash for taking clear images.
As per Xiaomi, the camera comes with a 0.1-second autofocus capability. And the Snapdragon 650 has a dual image signal processor for better image processing.
The camera also supports 1080 P video recording, time-lapse, and slow-motion videos @ 120 FPS. Further, The Redmi Note 3 can also record 4K video using the Google Camera App. The Snapdragon 650 processor makes it possible to record the 4K Videos. It is amazing to have the 4K capability on an affordable phone.
The front camera is also a 5 MP shooter for taking good looking selfies.
There is fingerprint scanner selfies support to take selfies even with the back camera.
Storage and Ram
Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 comes with 16 GB storage and 2 GB RAM or with 32 GB / 3GB RAM. The storage can be expanded by another 32 GB on either of the smartphones.
Also, there is a hybrid Sim card slot on the Xiaomi redmi Note 3. This means you can either use a second sim card or use the memory card.
However, the expandable storage is really low considering a lot of smartphones are offering 128 GB of SD card support.
Moreover, RN3 is dual sim and has support for 4G LTE bands in India along with the native 3G and 2G
Notably, it has the support of all Indian 4G LTE bands ( it has a Category 7 LTE Modem) with support for 3,5, 40, 41 bands. Moreover, it also supports VOLTE.
The Lenovo K4 Note is another smartphone that has support for all these bands. Further, you can use WIFI and Bluetooth 4.1 but not NFC.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 runs on the Android Lollipop OS along with the Xiaomi’s Custom MIUI 7.0. The MIUI feels smooth and aesthetic with lots of options to customise and add themes and icons as per your taste.
The home screen has a wallpaper carousel that helps to change the wallpaper daily. We have seen this on the Cool UI of Coolpad.
The smartphone will be available in India in 3 different colors – Gold, Silver and dark gray.

Xiaomi is providing the MI protect plan (insurance plan) for the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 at Rs. 375. Also, it comes with home pick up and drops facility in case you damage your smartphone. Something worth taking in my opinion, if you are not the careful type.
The Leeco LE 1S and the Huawei Honor 5X recently got launched. There are lots of buyers who bought these metallic smartphones that also offer good value for money. The other major selling smartphone in this price range is Lenovo K4 Note.
Which Model of Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 should you Buy 2GB RAM or 3 GB RAM?
I would suggest to bear the one-time expense and go with the 32 GB and 3 GB RAM version. You are going to spend money once and I think you can use it for 2-3 years considering a super powerful processor.
Moreover, low Ram may become a limiting factor in future. But in daily use, I don’t think even 2 GB is low and will be enough for Android N and use in 2017.
If you are tight on budget and can’t go any higher than 10K, you can go ahead with the 2 GB RAM version. It is going to work great even for high-end gaming. Besides, the processor is powerful enough to do the heavy lifting.
It is clear from the last couple of sales and that Xiaomi has no inventory of the 32 GB /3 GB RAM variant and is selling only the 2 GB /16 GB variant.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 has huge demand. And even if Xiaomi would have launched the 32 GB model Rs. 1000 higher they would have still sold huge volumes. Probably, they made it too cheap and didn’t anticipate the demand for the smartphone correctly.
